I'd like to hear opinions of the TaylorMade 300 irons

Good or Bad...I've never hit these but think they look nice.

I currently play Nike blade irons and really like them. After this summer my golfing is going to be limited for various reasons. Right now I play nearly every day, but next golf season I may only play 1-2 times per month. I'm looking for a set or irons that still look like a blade at address (small and compact), but can offer the forgiveness from cavity back irons. So far I've liked the looks of the TM 300 irons and would like to hear from some people that have experience in playing these irons...Also, I may be looking to purchase if I find a decent deal!!

they look nice, but I really doubt you'll see a huge difference in forgiveness.

TaylorMade 300's just might be considered the "Holy Grail" of the iron world, IMO. They're really good irons. I played some a few years ago and liked them but they started to seem on the "big'ish" side after a while. They're pretty forgiving for a forged cavity-back I think. Simp

I just played with mine today and they are as soft an iron as you can ever hit, there are multiple posts regarding these irons throughout this site, you might want to do a search and see all the replys already made regarding these irons.

One of the best set of irons made. Great design, forgiving for for Forged CB's. I still have mine as the backups to my mp32. TM has not made a good players iron since the 300 in my opinion.

Completely agree. I've switched to the cast 03/04 RAC LT's.

I haven't hit the 300 series, but I play the 200 series irons right now with rifle shafts. They're a great set of irons. They feel great. I could sell those to you if you're interested, but I'm left handed so they probably won't be good for you. (unless you're a lefty as well)

I agree with phillypete- I doubt you'll see much difference in forgiveness. While the 300's have a cavity there is a lot of steel in there. They moved enough weight to the perimeter to help a little, but not much.

I switched from the 300 forged to the RAC LT's also. Did it because of the sole and bounce differences.

I love the 300 forged. 6 to half dozen to the Bridgestone J33 cb, and you can add in the Titleist 695cb for that matter. All fit my eye. Player cavity back forgings to me are very close to a blade with a touch more forgiveness. They are all different to me. While the 300 forged are very blade like. The lack of bounce and the thin soles make the head feel and play more like a blade. Then you have a 695 cb head. More bounce and i touch wider sole. Makes it easier to miss a shot and still get good results. The leading edge can enter the ground with out digging so fast with a sole like the 695cb. Try that same shot with a 300 forged and she might dig more. Just my opinion.
