Clevelands/Srixons father company owns mayazaki I was told by the rep. I got to see these in person yesturday. I think that the tour driver looks clasic looking something cleveland went away from since the 400 launcher. The hosel is a bit longer on the tour driver. Also these shafts are 46.25" long. Cleveland cg16 wedges had a cavity which I did not like that much but look like typical cleveland wedges.

Trust me, it doesn't feel too light at all. In fact, because it still swingweights out normally, I'd bet you if I blindfolded you, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this driver and any other. My ss is 115mph and it felt solid to me.

Tim Petrovic had a 39 gram one in play at the BMW.
The Difference in weight between a standard 65G shaft and a 39G shaft is a little less than one ounce, but I bet it sure makes a difference in swing speed. I wonder where that additional weight is being distributed so they can keep the same swing weight?

Well adding the weight somewhere else would be redundant to the point of the technology. The reason I think it swingweights normally is because the shaft is overlength, plus the shaft construction must be so much better nowadays they can somehow make it balance out normally anyways despite being super light. I wouldn't know exactly why, so don't steal my idea and use it in an argument with some pals and blame me for being wrong.

Can't wait for this ultralite craze to trickle down through the rest of the bag. It will certainly make carrying easier, that's the best promise I've heard of game improvement from new clubs all year!

I'm already there. 80 gram shafts in my irons. 90g in my wedges. Really helped me keep on plane. clapping.gif

I would say not. Boo Weekley plays one of these in his driver. And if I remember correctly, Boo Weekley is a pretty big boy and he most likely swingers harder than you and I. Definitely could be something to look into.

You can only go so light.....
... then what?
Well, the lighter the shaft is the faster the swingspeed. That also has a downside...usually you are all over the map off the tee because it's harder to control. A heavier shaft is easier to control.

All I can say is if the shaft gets below around 65 grams I can't control it... my swing gets out of sync and my hands get too fast.

I'm not trading 250 down the middle for 300 in the sticks...

PS: Boo may be playing this shaft. Or he may be playing a one off heavier version that looks like this shaft. Doesn't really matter - I'm not Boo.

its not a one off heavier version. Boo is playing the Miyzaki 39s, tipped 1", which is heavier than 39g (check the Miyazaki website for more details). The shafts in these drivers are the exact same shafts that are out on tour.

I have hit all three Miyazaki C.Kua's, this shaft is not even in the same ball park as the lite Diamana that was in the DST and not like anything that has been in the market before, there has not been a tour caliber series of shafts designed specifically for this purpose and designed to fit this wide of a range of golfers. There are other lite shafts, but having hit these, I recommend trying these before we pass judgement based on lite shafts we have hit in the past.

there was once a time when 65 grams was "too lite",

I did say too light for me. Not making a judgement for anyone else. Sixty-five grams has always been about right for me.

And 39 grams is 39 grams; it doesn't matter how the shaft is made it is the weight and it's effect on my tempo and swing. How the shaft is constructed is irrelevant.
