Hello all,

I'll be visiting south China next months and would like to play a round or 2 out there. Anyone played out there before? I heard its quite expensive and my budget is around $150/Rd. Thanks in advance!

do you plan on playing weekends or weekdays? it's considerably more exp. on weekends- weekdays are manageable depending on where you plan.
Macau is pretty damn exp- if you have a handicap card, i would recommend playing on the public course - kau sai chau - east course or north. though since it's public, once you register and then book, it may be very hard to get the right tee time.

I assume you'll have a china visa? if so, check out shenzhen or zhuhai courses (zhuhai is next to macau- and some courses are only about 20mins away from the macau border)

the best site to help you would be golf007.com

good luck!

Golf007 is a good place to book. I just relocate to HK and start playing in Dongguan, China at the Hillview Country Club. They have 4 - 9-hole course and it's in top notch condition. Play Monday or Tuesday to skip the crowd. It's only 1.5-2 hours away from HK.

Roger that. KSC is really hard to book on your own, and Hillview has been in *excellent* shape every time I have played there. One thing that pissed me off about Hillview, though, was that a marshal guarded an elevated tee box saying it was for 5 HCP and lower only. WTH? He hustled me down to the lower tee where I promptly drove it off the end of the fairway, turned around and stared at him. He sheepishly invited me back to the higher tee, but I was done with him and that tee and moved on.

yeah you'll need a visa to get into China from HK.

I happened to like playing the Jockey club in HK. (or owned by the jockey club or funded by the jockey club...not exactly sure?)

Remember to bring passport AND handicap card.

Have to take a ferry over to the "golf island", courses were a lot of fun to play.

If you are in the Shenzen area, Mission hills is a must see....place is HUGE with great facilities. My uncle is a member there and got to play quite a bit when I was in HK a couple years back. (can't comment on booking or anything like that since that was all taken care of for me)

How long is the round trip to the "Golf Island"? From say.... Central on the HK Island? Whats the most convenient way to get there?

Also, does anyone know of a decent driving range with decent balls? I went to one in Tseng Kwan O (Island Golf Driving Range) and the balls were absolutely horrible. No Dimples at all, hit a billion times, etc.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Think it would be a good hike from central, if I remember correct the golf island was way up near the new territories....I think it was 45mins by car and we were closer to clearwater bay.
