Well I just purchased 2 of them @ 18 and 21 deg.

They are easier to hit than a traditional long iron for sure but a bad swing results in a bad shot. The 18 deg is great off the tee, almost guarentee fairway finder.

But they are terrible off tight lies. Ok from the rough. I hit my AP2 3 iron longer than the Mizzy 3 iron (about 10 yards, don't know why!). (Both s300 shafts)......

I'm actually selling the pair I just got but I won't be terribly upset if the 2 iron doesn't sell.

I'd give the club a solid 7/10. Workable, Fairly easy to hit, Amazing off the tee. Not good from tight lies and lacks that true mizzy forged feeling.

I had a 21* ordered and had it bent to 19.5* and ground to improve turf contact and off tight lies, while it was not a problem for me to begin with, I now kill with it. There is no chance I would be able to hit any GI 2-3 iron as far and as high as the MP Fli Hi. I rotate back and forth between the MP and my Tour Burner at 18.5* depending on course conditions and which would be more effective, occasionally I'll switch to a 53/58 wedge setup and bring both. The feel is not Mizzy solid, well struck shots are just plain not felt at all, ball just launches off the face. I hit these every bit as far, yet more accurate and easily more workable, than the Adams 9031s. If you are a more effective iron player that wants ease of use and still be able to fight the ball and move it right and left these will work. I hit one last Wed from 218, 211 to carry water, to 10 feet with only about 2 ft rollout to firm and small green with OB left and back. Can't trust my hybrid on shots like that. I have found it fits my game well. My brother also games one at 18* bent to 17* and ground similar for use off the tee primarily but he can hit it off the fairway on a rope when the situation dictates it.

Haiku as a sig?
They may be overrated
But I'm rocking one!

I've not tried the FLI-Hi, but I have the Callaway TA Utilities in 18* and 21* and LOVE them. I always had trouble with hybrids going left and with accurate distance control. I'm not knocking hybrids as they work great for most people, just not for me.

Has anyone tried the MP FLI HI utility club? I am looking for a utility club with better trajectory and distance control than a traditional hybrid club yet easier to hit than a long iron. Is this FLI HI what I am looking for? Thanks for your thoughts.

Simply put, yes. Some details in the posts above. Amazing as a driving iron (and fun to be outdistancing your friends' woods with an iron). Not as easy off the deck as a traditional hybrid but (much) easier than long irons.

i have the new 2010 fil hi and its ok off the fairway,,great off the tee but so so off tighter or thicker lies,,i have a 19* raylor that i absolutely love better than any hybrid and i also have the tourstage airmuscle 3 iron which is the easiest 3 iron/hybrid combo i've ever played,,,off the tee the airmuscle is a monster w/ a controlled distance of 240-and playing it 230- off other lies, for less than 50- w/ a graphite shaft the airmuscle is worth a try, good luck,,,,,,,,,t

The MP Fli Hi is really for the player who could once hit a a #2 iron or #3 iron but has lost a little "something".
Notice it is more compact than virtually all other hybrids and has a flat vs curved face.
You could call it a "low handicapper's hybrid", for the player who can't bring himself to look at a (larger) hybrid. It "looks" like an iron.

I used to play the 18* and 21* MP-FliHis as a replacement for my 2&3 irons last year. The 18* was good off the tee but terrible off the fairway. The 21* was better off both the tee and fairway. However, my great shot percentage was ~70% with them so I decided to replace them. I came across a 2 & 3 Callaway X18 irons in the used bin at my local pro shop, my great shot percentage is almost 95% with these. Plus the 2i is a killer as a driving iron.

I used to hate the 'wood' like hybrids and the two Cally irons have revitalized my long iron game.

IMO the Fli-Hi is really not any easier to play than a long iron. Mizuno basically sells them as wider sole long irons for $150.

MP Fli-Hi is stupid easy to hit. No comparison to normal long irons with narrow soles.

+1.

Dizz: "really not any easier to play than a long iron." What's a long iron? A Ping G-15? Or a '63 MacGregor SS-1? A Cleveland Hi-Bore perhaps? Or maybe an MP-29?

Anyhow....

A) As far as comparable lofts go, an MP Fli-Hi is much easier to hit than anything short of a "wider sole" SGI long iron.

B) I just ran a search on ebay and found four used ones with a buy it now price of $30-40, and two new ones with a BIN price of $50.

C) Did your user name used to be "Dizzub"? I suspect so.

I've got an MP Fli Hi in my bag. It cost $45. It's a million billion times easier to hit then the 3 iron it replaced ('88 Hogan Apex). You can flame away if you want "Dizz" but this is all I'm going to say here.

Everyone else: Mizuno MP Fli Hi = GREAT CLUB!

ok i played 36 and Im starting to change my opinion on the fli his. The 2 iron is an absolute cannon off the tee. Stupid long. LIke 265 long today on a few drives. I still can't hit them off the tight fairways this time of year but they are ok from the rough when the ball is sitting up.

I can't get over how long the 2 is off the tee. I actually tee it up quite a bit and sweep it off the tee more like a hybrid than an iron. Starting to grow on me. I might go driver / 3 wood / hybrid (maybe) / 18 deg fli hi / 4 - pw, 52 58 for next year.

Want to have one in my bag.
