I've got 5 WB bags, including 2 Tour bags - but never a Kool Cat. The W B bags were not shown in their ads or catalogs.

Your Kool Cat bag features the Ferarri red and yellow used on some of the drivers - Dave Wood taking a hint .from Toney Penna and attempting to bring more color to golf.

Thanks for sharing!

Haven't made offer - didn't know it was available - would love to have it.

Dave Wood would like to see, and have pics for his files I'm sure.

Did anybody here pick up that "mint" Wood Bros 4 wood that sold on Ebay last week...??

J

Hi fluffy265,

are you talking about the True Temper Gold Plus+ Fairway Instrument 4 wood that was sold on eBay some days ago?

I was very happy that I won both the 12 deg Texan driver and the corresponding 4 wood (both with a nice w/r/w insert) auctions as I like the regular flex. I was really excited to hit a couple of balls with these woods.

But I am very sad that both clubs did not arrive at my home yet (and it has been quite a while since I paid for the two clubs).

These two items would bee an amazing addition to my small collection so I am still hoping for them to arrive here;)

Happy collecting everyone!

Oh, wow both look amazing. That driver must be some custom order as I haven't seen al lot of Texans with lofts higher than 10* And I'm not sure if it's the lighting in the photo, but it appears the driver has a brass soleplate (to lower the center of gravity in the driver > higher launch, lower spin), which would be perfect for todays balls.

Yes, the driver has a brass soleplate.

Agree on the 12 degree.

Have been happy about the reg flex.

Still hoping for the clubs to arrive at my home!

A really rare Wood Bros Texan LFF - I feel very fortunate to have found it. Mint unhit condition.

Only the 3rd one I've ever seen.

Dave Wood says he produced only a few (30+) of these experimental LFF versions for Tour players to test - input from Davis Love III and Andy Bean, among others. Dave was shocked that one in mint condition exists. One of his all time favorite shapes.

He says these clubs have curves like Brigitte Bardot. They were difficult to produce because of swing weight considerations.

The face is 1 7/8" at the peak, and the extended toe was meant to be an anti-hook device for guys who liked to hit those high toe draws. A little more bulge on this face than the original LFF or MO9 - most obvious on the toe, which is sits noticeably open at address.

One thing that makes Wood Bros/Dave Wood collecting so challenging and interesting is that there are so many limited production models, one-of-a-kinds, Tour pro's clubs, and prototypes.

For instance, the Masters Edition are extremely rare Limited edition clubs. But there is also a single one-of-a-kind Augusta National Golf Club, Kool Cat driver, custom made for 1 Augusta National member. Dave had to get the ANGA's permission from the club to use their name and trade mark on the club.

Others - Cruser models, Convertible woods, 2 1/2 woods, Lob woods, and proto putters and wedges - and who knows what else will show up.

Update on the LFF Texan

The original owner was a Houston area golf clothing salesman, who got the club in trade to settle Wood Bros accounts, from Charlie Wood.

It's believed to be the last LFF Texan which Charlie had saved.

As such, Charlie advised him to "never hit it - hang it on your wall" - which he did!

It's also obviously an advantage for Wood Bros collectors to live near Houston

How about my Boston Red Sox !! On to the World Series! I was actually at Fenway Park today and the place is already buzzing ! What a season

Fred - I was born 3 miles from Dodgers Stadium when it was just under construction. Not looking good tonight but hopefully we'll see you in The Series. I'll go out and golf in my old Dodgers hat if they make it,

I live at the bottom end of the world but have been lucky enough to see three games (3 real good ones as it turned out) at Dodger Stadium and consider it to be something of a magical place. If they can win game 7 in the NLCS I’m slightly concerned that they’ll get clobbered in the WS...

Man those were some good games between the Sox and Astros. Really well played. Nothing against Dodger and Brewer fans or the teams, but to me it looks like either of those AL teams should smoke any team in the NL.

I was living in Boston from ~98 through 03, walking distance to Fenway. The height of the Pedro years (though of course I was bummed to miss '04!). Nothing like Fenway on a night when Pedro was pitching. I caught the September '01 game when he struck out 17 Yankees (IIRC?). Just magic.

I have seen one game at Fenway. This was back in May 2000 and it was a rain shortened game. I believe that the BoSox beat the ChiSox, which for me is always a good thing! :D

I have seen 6 or 7 games at Dodger Stadium and met one on my favorite former Chicago Cubs players there during one game. I met Rick Monday as he made his way down to the field and he signed a commemorative ticket stub celebrating his retrieval of the American Flag during a game in 1976.

Both stadiums were outstanding with a lot of history exuding from them. I loved Fenway and kept thinking about the 1975 WS. I love old ballparks over stadiums. I suppose that's the Wrigley Field influence for me.

On a side note. My wife is a BoSox fan and I consider the BoSox as my favorite American League team so I will be rooting for the Sox. Go Sox.

I can’t add any information about Wood Brothers only to say I moved to Kingwood ,Texas in 1973. Wood brothers was located in a small building in downtown Humble, Texas. I I visited them a few times but never knew them personally. They moved their facility to the old Post Office building when it closed. I remember the Texas map driver being made.Wish now I had visited more often. Also remember the kool cat. Btw, I was a charter member of Kingwood Country Club. Played in the event the first day it opened. The movie TIN CUP was filmed there and at Deerwood, also located in Kingwood.
