In my bag 2013 - Joey from Iceland

Recommended Posts

Yes, I love Wilson Staff....
I intended to take a break from golf last summer but that only lasted until mid August. By then I had sold ALL my golf stuff except for one lousy carry bag (seen in pics). When I decided to come back I kind of wanted to get as much of Wilson Staff equipment as I could. My first whole set was a cheap Wilson set and I have been watching the staff line ever since. I also wanted to get cheap but good clubs which was the reason for the Ci7's in the bag. Great reviews everywhere and the only thing people complained about was the grips....not a big deal. I simply love these irons and couldn't be happier with the purchase (140$ used but in good condition). The fybrid was also bought used but I have less playing time with that club during a bad pull/hook period and really couldn't give a fair review on that club because of that. That bad swing period is still ongoing but since everything is covered in snow up here in Iceland that is something I have to look into come spring smile.gif . Because of the left problem I sold my Burner '09 because of the closed face (I've heard 2° but TM online customer service hasn't answered my questions regarding that for about 2 months). Decided to go for the Smooth, nice reviews and neutral face. High launch was the reason for the 9° choice. I bought the Smooth along with the Odyssey Marxman Mini for less money then half a driver would cost up here so I'm delighted with Rockbottomgolf. It's problematic to buy golf clubs where I live in the north part of my country because there is no real pro shop here, no chance to try hitting clubs so I buy from overseas without knowing how the clubs suit me. So far it has worked fine though....only the Burner '09 has flopped smile.gif. Can't wait for spring and hopefully I will have recovered from a slipped disc by then.

Edit: I forgot to mention that during winter I'm gonna try to buy a 3 wood (either a fybrid (hs or the older version) or Cleveland xls). I also have to buy a cart bag, hopefully a Wilson Staff Tour cart bag. I also need a 3 wheel cart, I had a Clic Gear and I liked it but I'm going for something cheaper. After that I have room for 1 more club and I would either go for a 5 wood (not sure since the fybrid is 19.5°) or a 60° wedge. I have loved the good old CG10 wedges and would be likely to go for a nice used one. My second choice would of course be the new Wilson Staff FG Tour (only second because it's more expensive). That wedge looks soooo hot I have to say....

Edit 2: More pics added, driver at adress and more, putter at adress and 4 iron at adress.

Edit 3: More pics added, the new 3 wood and some more of the whole set.

Edit 4: Threw out old pics of whole set and put some new ones in because I got my 60° wedge yesterday.

Edit 5: Cart bag is here and I threw in some pics of the whole set (including the push cart).

Edit 2013: Same clubs unless I´ve changed my 3 wood to the Mizuno MX-700. All clubs now have new PURE Grips. New pics added 19th of feb. 2013.

Thanks nogimmes85, I'm very happy with it all. About the driver djlazer1, I just bought it and haven't had the chance to hit it yet. I buy things if I like the brand, the price is right and the reviews are very good. Got the driver for 89.99 so I can't lose I guess :)

Oh, I forgot. I like Paddy but my favorite golfer is and has been Lee Westwood for a long time. Next is Ernie Els. One more thing.....I don't like Tiger :)

Here are some more pics of driver, putter and 4 iron. Now could someone get up here and help me get the stuff back into the storage room in the basement? :)

Thanks man, I just think that if you are going for quality equipment and want low prices, Wilson Staff is one heck of a brand. The looks don't hurt of course :)

Well, I just bought an Adams Fast 10 3 wood on ebay for 42,75$ and will add pics when it arrives next week. Very happy with the price I have to say. It's 77,75$ with international shipping. Now my bag contains only my 3 favorite brands (apart from putter of course but I really like Odyssey) in Wilson Staff, Cleveland and Adams. Now I'll have to scan ebay for a cheap 60° wedge (CG10 or CG12 preferably) and then I'm ready for spring :)

Nice setup man , i also have a 9* Smooth i've had it for 8 months and i luv it , i bet you will too its ,long and very straight . If you are still looking for a cheap 60* wedge , see if you can find a TW9 somewhere . I have a 50* 56* and 60* , they are great wedges they can do it all . I was at Edwinn Watts last week and they had all of their TW9's on clearance for $49 to make room for the new FG Tour wedges . I am a HUGE W/S fanboy myself , just check out my sig . You can check out all of my pics in the WITB forum , i could never get the link to work , but if you want to check mine out its under WITB for smoothduffer , if you wanna look it up . cheers

Thanks man. I've been watching the TW9's but they are hard to find on ebay. 49.99 seems to be the cheapest in the online stores and that would mean about 80$ for me with shipping. On the other hand it's possible to get the CG10 for just over 20$ on ebay and that is a great deal for great wedges imo. I can't wait to hit the Smooth....very excited. Great looking club! And yes, I know you're a huge W/S fan because I did a few searches here about W/S gear and there you were, defending the Staff line....on basically every thread I found :D Good job man!

Golf on.

ps. I have already had a look at your bag and if I remember correctly, I also commented on it (nice 1).

Since I've gotten back into golf I've been a Wilson iron man. Started with the deep red distance II (should be illegal) and have since gamed the Pi5, Fi5 and currently the Pi7...

Sorry if the quote doesn't work, I'm not sure how to use it lol. I like your seturp Mookie91 and also your choice of brands in Adams, Cleveland and W/S :good:.

Smoothduffer, how's that Launcher working for you? It's the '09 version right? It was one of the clubs I was thinking about when I was looking for a 3 wood.

Yea the launcher is an 09 its really really long like a smaller headed driver , i can get it out there 290-300 yards when i catch it good . It works the ball left pretty nice but i cant fade it at all . There is a right dogleg at my home course , it starts turning about 200 yards from the tee ,perfect for a long fade with a 3-wood but , i have to use my fybrid on it cause i can fade and draw it . If you want to hit it long and straight the launcher is a great 3-wood but, i will be checking out W/S's new DXI 3-wood soon and , that will more than likely replace it .

Ok, thanks...I guess the Fast 10 was the right choice then....I tend to dislike clubs with draw bias :)
these clubs look really enticing. was so sure about getting the CG7 tour from Cleveland, now i guess i have to demo these. they look great!

ahhhh... so many choices.
If I were you, I'd at least try the Ci7's. I coudln't find 1 bad review on those when I was doing my research. Cheap and great set of irons. Highly recommended (I've had G2's, Adams idea A1, Big Berthas '06 and the Ci7's are by far the best for me).

About the deep red distance II being illegal? Man if you want to hit an iron straight and a long way they can't be beaten. I actually was hitting them too far, stock PW 155-160. I couldn't knock them down either. The main issue I had no feel with them around the greens but for the wow factor they were stellar!
