Does the fitting system change how well you hit them, or is it just a gimmick?
[/quote]

It all depends on who fits you. If you go to Phoenix you are guaranteed a great fit and there is No Charge! However most of the techs in the field do a poor job fitting. I have been fit four times and each time I got a different color code? The fitting system is the best in the business however the field reps are not trained very well I have found. Unless you are exceptionally tall or short the std black will work just fine. It only stand to reason that if you are 4'0" your lie will be significantly different than someone that is 6'5". The web fit will get you close to the proper color code. If you do get fitted make sure you are outside not hitting into an indoor net.

Good Luck!

Great set of irons though. You would e hard pressed to find better game improvement irons that the G15's.

I had a field reps tell me that nFLIGHT does not work well with iron fitting. If this guy would have taking the time with me I would have spent $1500.00 that day on new irons, driver and woods.

I wanted to try a GI set of irons, so after some extensive research I pulled the trigger on a set of Ping G15 AWT stiff. After only 2 rounds I've shot a 78 and 76 on consecutive rounds over this past weekend. My previous irons played within the last 12 mos have been Taylormade Rac LT2s, Tour Burner irons, Callaway X16 Pro, and my current gamers Adams CB2. I've had similar rounds with my CB2s, but I would always have the occasional missed swing that would lead to a double-bogey hole. With the Ping G15 irons, I find my misses are still pin high, playable, and this past weekend I was able to chip them close and make a putt.

Overall, the Ping G15 irons are designed to be GI (game improvement) irons and that is exactly what they do....improve your game.

I had a set of Ping Eye 2's back in the day. I ended up selling them because I hated the lack of feel around the green. I was a Mizuno guy until this Fall. After 15 years of playing less than 6 times per year, it was time to get some help. I went to GS intent on getting the Callaway Razr X, Titleist AP1 or Burner 2.0's. After hitting those and not feeling any wow factor. I grabbed a g-15 graphite 7 iron from the demo rack. I immediately experienced a much higher, more solid shot. I was sold and ordered them after being fitted. I didn't get them until late October, so I only had a few rounds with them. Onto the review....

Looks: The thick topline and sole didn't bother me as much as I thought they would. Either way, I was committed to better performing clubs, as opposed to pretty clubs which ended up 10 yards short. The graphite shafts have a modest look in my opinion. While these clubs look like GI irons, they don't look terribly clownlike.

Feel: Based on coming from Mizuno's and my earlier experience with Eye 2's, I expected a much crisper feeling club. I was pleasantly suprised in the somewhat muted feel of these. Contrary to popular opinion, I have no trouble telling where I am hitting these on the clubface. Toe, heel or botton, all of those are easy to tell. The feel around the green was surprising as well. More on that in performance....

Performance: If you don't want a nice, nice shot that sits on the greens, don't buy these. If you're a low ball hitter like I am, you'll be thrilled with the high launch of these irons. Not to mention that they hit, stick and dance on the greens. My mis-hits went pretty straight and often landed on the green. I especially loved the carry that the toe shots had. Again, does this mean that I won't work on my swing to eliminate those mishits? No, of course not, but in the meantime, I'll have more fun on the course. I could easily work the ball right to left as little or as much as I wanted to. I cannot hit a fade, so the left to right shots didn't matter to me. I love the feel around the greens. I'm chipping and pitching the ball much better with these. No issues at all with feel.

Conclusion: These will be my clubs for a long time. They do everything as advertised and more. If I ever want that Mizuno feel, I have a set. But, these will be my gaming clubs for at least 5-10 years. Definitely recommend these for all level, especially those over a 10.

I picked up a couple sets of these in white dots.... apparently I have really short, alligator arms. I am 5'10" and my wrists are 36 inches from the ground. The clubs are now flat on the ground. I previously played, Nickent 3dx Pros, MacGregor M565s, and Dunlop A10 Tour Limited (all great clubs). My impression from these clubs, is that it is truly hard to hit a bad shot, unless you really mess up your swing. Every time I try to crush the ball, bad things happen.

I do much better, by taking one more club and taking a 3/4 swing. Overall, I love these clubs. They are straight, and extremely forgiving. I honestly like the feel of my Nickents and Macs better, but the results is what I really care about. I'm not sure how one works these clubs, but I have decided that straight is very good. I actually have a slight fade with these clubs.

The only legit complaint I can see, is if you are a high ball hitter, then these clubs may not be for you. I actually deloft the club, so they work well for me. It gets windy in Iowa, so at times, I have to take more club than I am used to. After adjusting, I am hitting these irons straighter than any other. Excellent clubs, and in my opinion one of the best looking irons Ping has ever made.

One last comment............. THESE ARE THE MOST FORGIVING CLUBS I HAVE EVER HIT. AFTER HITTING OTHER IRONS, IT'S REALLY HARD TO HIT A BAD SHOT. i AM JUST COMING BACK TO GOLF AFTER 2-3 YEARS OFF. FOR ME, i HAVE POSTED 43,41,47,43, 41, 41,45, AND 41. THE 47 WAS DUE TO TAKING A 9 ON A PAR 5. IT'S POSSIBLE TO HIT A BAD SHOT, BUT YOU HAVE TO REALLY WORK HARD TO DO IT.

EXCELLENT CLUBS.

I've had my G15's for over 2 years now. (4i - UW Green Dot, AWT Stiff Shafts, 1/2 long, standard white grip)

Pro's and Con's
(+) I am scoring 4 strokes better and hitting more greens on more difficults courses since my change.
(+) Ball flight is high and straight. Easy to hit a draw or fade if you want to. Not easy to keep the ball low.
(+) Shots feel very solid coming off the face with a pleasant sound.
(++) Distances are VERY consistent.
(-) The high ball flight requires adapting play on windy days which can be challenging.
(+ -) The wide soles have their own pro's and con's depending on your lie.
(+) I find these clubs very easy to hit well. I would give them a 90/100 if I could.
