I just ordered a 4 (what?! a 4?!?!), to replace the Circa '62 #6 that I can't get back from my brother-in-law. Brand new for $95 all in from golf etail. I expect this to bump the protype 5CS that has gone a little stale on me of late. Personally, I like the feel of the black series, with the tungsten wieight, etc., beter than the "forged" protypes.

I don't know if you'll wander back into this thread, but I was walking through my local Golfsmith the other day and I saw a # 4 sitting in the preowned rack. I was expecting it to be beat up as i grabbed for it. But as I pulled it out the head was absolutely mint!! The black Odyssey/winn grip was even in decent shape. I'm not a fan of this grip though. I had a new grip that came stock on the MXM putter lying around. ( Like the White Hot Pro, but darker fill). Wow, what a great feeling putter! And the best part, they had it for sale for $38!!! May be my best golf find ever!

Alas, my 4 had problems from the get go (manufacturing defect, not performance). It had to go back and it was not replaced. Nevertheless, I would buy as many as I could find at $38 in good condition - absolutely a steal of the first order.

I have a #9, and 2 #5s -- a 340g and 350g -- they are all solid putters with great feel.

I have a #8 and a #9 that I initially fell in love with. I really liked the soft feel and black coating but over time for some reason just couldn't put my confidence in them on the course when my score really mattered. Still like them but am unloading them if someone out there does have an interest - PM me.

Did the 1 Wide ever come out with a straight shaft option? I see some on eBay with the stock photo as Straight but actual photos all of the 1 Wides have a double bend. Thanks!

Are the weights on these (I have the 8, 8802 style with what looks to be a couple allen wrench type bolts holding the weight on) - are they interchangeable?

 

 

I google search didn't yield me what I was looking for (maybe I didn't look hard enough...)

No weights. If you don't stuff the putter with a fashion grip (Fatso/2Thumbs/Winn) but keep it simple with a slim traditional one, it will serve you for years. Unreal roll

I posted on this back in 2014. Still have that putter in the bag.just changed the grip recently to a counterbalance super stroker mid slim 2.0.FOR ME it rolls waay better than anything I have tested in the last 4 years. Only putter close was the odyssey o-works 1W (2017 model).

I had #9 and sold it. The toe hang combined with a deep milled face caused some issues if I closed the face a hair early, almost puts draw spin on it and goes further off line. Wish they did a black series with smooth face or lighter milled face. There’s also no option to change the tungsten weight so you have to make sure 375G is ok for you. I prefer 355G.

I posted in 2012 and still have my #5 in the bag in 2023.  On occasion I'll hit a few putts with someone's latest Scotty, TM Spyder, Ping etc, but I haven't been tempted to change.  

 

The weight, balance & feel of my Black Series Tour mid mallet just feels right.
