Crystal Lake & Durham Lake ?

Will be flying onto Atlanta for a few days. Can anyone review these two courses as they seem relatively close to the airport. Crystal Lake CC & Durham lake Golf club.

Stay away from Durham - I heard they lost ALL their greens this past summer with the brutal head we had.

Crystal Lake is and excellent choice. Not only for near the airport, but for all of Metro Atlanta, IMO. If you're looking for other close airport options, I would suggest Eagles Brooke - which is a little further south than Crystal Lake, but it's a private course that went semi-public (last year) with the dreadful economy. Only played it once, but it is an awesome track. 3rd option in close proximity to airport would be Wolf Creek. Not to be confused with the daunting Wolf Creek in Mesquite, NV.

Thank you, we are coming down for Tuesdays practise round at The Masters. That is why we are looking for something near the airport. We were thinking about Chestatee GC as we have played there before and enjoyed it but it looks to be about a 1 hour and a half drive. Crystal Lake might be the best choice in case we run into air travel delays. Now the other course we are planning to play as we are staying in Covington is The Oaks GC. Do you have any insight into The Oaks course as it is very convienent to where we are staying. Thanks again.

The Oaks is a very good track, right off of 20, which I would go to much more if I lived closer to it. It is not an overly long track from the back tees, but will require a bit of local knowledge to maneuver around. The first thing that got me was the immaculate condition of the greens. FAST bermuda, which is not my favorite, but the ball rolls true and did I mention, fast? The course has a lot going for it, including a very friendly pro-shop. The price makes it an outstanding value. Be aware that you will need to think off the 1st tee. You'll understand this when you get there.

Crystal Lake is a great course. Took a PAT there. Unfortunately I didnt pass there. They have very good greens if I recall. Another choice might be the Frog. You should also check out lmtt.com for Atlanta. You can usually find some good rates for those places. Hope this helps.
