Review of Rivermont Country Club in Atlanta

For those of you from Atlanta who have played Rivermont country club, what are your thoughts? How did you like it? Course Condition? Layout?

I had a buddy who was considering membership there. Said that the course was wonderful, but there were better options for clubs given their membership fee structure and guest rates. This was over a year ago and those fees may have changed.

What other options were there?

Down the road, in a manner of speaking, is Horseshoe Bend. Full private club, and lower fees across the board. I played a couple of times and a very 'old school' type of course, if you like that sort of thing. He did that for a year and then finally switched to Club Corp.

I tried to get him to go Canongate, which I signed up for but through some association, he got a pretty good deal at Club Corp.

I have been a member of Horseshoe Bend and Rivermont.

The Rivermont course is terrific. Tough course with mulitple tee box possibilities.

Fees at Rivermont are significantly less expensive than Horseshoe. All in is about $360 versus $500. Horseshoe has a lot of add on costs that raise to the above number.

Horseshoe has a better practice facility and both courses are in good condition.

I live in the neighborhood at Horseshoe and that sways my choice. Both are very good, just different.

Bump, same here. I don’t want to pay the initiation at horseshoe bend if I’m primarily in it for golf. Seems to be co sense that the courses (rivermond vs horseshoe bend) are just as nice? What do they have as far as practice facilities at rivermont?

I believe rivermont has a short range (irons only), and a practice bunker/green. More of a warm up range.
