KBS TOUR X, PROJECT X 6.5, DG X-100?????

Launch and Spin?
I was at the PGA Merchandise show last week speaking with the people at True Temper and a few people with KBS. Each state that their shafts promote low launch low spin shafts. Who is right?

I am a mini-tour player that launches the ball high with above average spin numbers. I played DG X-100 shafts in college before switching to Project X 6.5 shafts in a new set of irons. In the past year I have swithed to the KBS Tour X for 2 reasons. 1) Because like most of you I'm a tinkerer and 2)I wanted more feel.

Can someone please tell me which of these three truly launch the lowest with the lowest spin.

Cheers!

They don't make that shaft yet......I'm in the same boat you are in that I have No Issue with spin or height with my irons and have done extensive experiementing...and the results came right back to were I started PX 6.5...which had the least spin and height. Both the x100 and KBS were no advantage in ball flight and especially in the spin dept....I will say there is more feel in the both of these but not enough to matter... so in the end my satin PX's were still the best fit for me...but I will will always keep an ear out when someone makes a 'true low launching, lower spinning iron shaft' not built for the masses, but for players who don't need viagra to get it up!

I also tried the TT Monaco 'prototype shafts and the Nippon 'tours'...

good luck PM me if you find something that works better than the PX.

High ball and especially high spin hitter here average SS 6 iron 103mph
I can only comment on PX 7.0 in MP 67 vs DG X 100 in 710MB and MP 37
Mizuno Trackman Fitting indicates too much spin is the main problem but also too high launch angle so therefore the Mizuno Fitter came to the conclusion PX as they will kill the spin the most. PX 6.5 was not enough but PX 7.0 was perfect for me. Launch and trajectory still on the high side but no stalling or balloning.
When I switched ot 710MB I asked Titleist Fitter for my favorite PX 7.0 set up and he stated that the 710 MB was more designed and set up for DGX shaft and those will be more consistent throughout the set so thats why i switched to DGX in the 710MB. However, great shaft too. Lower launch but little more spin than PX 7.0. However DGX100 performs ok as well and the shafts are consistent throuhgout the set which as not the case with the PX 7.0 in my MP 67.
Conclusion:
PX higher launch but lower spin
DG lower launch but higher spin
leads to same apex high but different overall trajectory
check out iron head shaft combination and also shaft consitency

Do not be afraid of PX 7.0.

At the end it depends on preferred feel and preferred overall trajectory and iron head shaft combination.

Maybe look into Nippon's offerings?

^ I got a set of Peening blues coming to help bring the flight down. I have the KBS Tour X and love the dispersion, too high. Not a fan of the PX and havent played long enough with the DGss

It really comes to what your swing calls for the most. I, for instance, prefer the DG, but I swing fairly level and naturally produce medium-high, lower spin numbers - it gives me the flight that I like.

PX is medium launch, low spin, definitely good for someone that strikes aggressively down through the ball.
KBS is low-medium launch and spin that is kind of between the two.

Like a few others, I'm in a very similar boat as you. I'm using PX 7.0 and can't seem to get my 8 iron from backing up on the green (my driver ss is 120+). I've tried the hardest, lowest spinning balls and demoed a few other shafts - KBS 6.5, DGX100, Rifle 7.0 - and PX was the lowest spin of the group. I really liked the feel of KBS but the launch was too high and spin was way too high. I'm hoping they release their KBS Tour+ or the KBS stepless protos. I'm also looking at maybe going to DG X7 to see how that does or maybe the Nippon Modus3.

From my understanding, to attain lowest spin, you need to go to DG X, and then "hard step it"? Not sure?
[/quote]

Most likely not. The Tour X7s will probably be the lowest spinning, and the PX second. Throw the Super Peening Blues in there somewhere. That's why they are so great for people that spin the ball more - it gives them their happy medium!

I hope so. I'm getting tired of hitting perfect shot from the fairway, only to see it pop up as the wind catches it and have it fall short.

According to a source who was able to discuss it with KB, this year's KBS stepless weren't much of an improvement over the Tours in terms of lowering launch and spin, so I'd wait for at least the next batch to see if they were able to get it right.
