I've got a 05' F150, FX4.. I beat it up and it still keeps churnin along.

I get around 18-19 MPG with it. Here in the south, it's about $70-80 to fill it up. I think it's a 25-26 gallon tank.

Rides good, even for a 4x4. Has never gotten stuck anywhere, or died on me. 150K miles on it. I've only ever changed the tires and the oil. Everything else is whatever has been put in it, or on it by Ford.

Not bad I think for being 6 years old..

The new Fords are really sharp, and if you get the lariat, will have just about all the luxury that sedans have, in the truck. Huge back seats in the 4 door models, leather and chrome everywhere. Heated and A/C in the seats, power everything, voice activated gadgets..

I've had 5, an 86, 93, 96, 04, and an 06. I currently have the 96 for my work truck. It has 190k miles on it, and runs like a champ. The 86 was my dads, which he bought new in 86. I got it in 2000 when he bought his new F150, and it had over 200k miles on it. At around 185k miles or so, it got away from him when he was loading the boat onto the trailer, and backed itself into the bay. The transmission and interior had to be replaced, but in the 13 or so years and 185k(ish) miles on it, it had never been in the shop for anything. Treat them right (regular maintenance) and they will treat you right.

I have a 2010 F-150 FX4 Crew. Had a 2003 GMC Envoy. It's night and day. I tow a boat in the summer, and the V6 on the Envoy was a dog. The backseat space is amazing. The FX4's have a 36 gallon tank. I try and refill at about the halfway point just to avoid sticker shock. I have a little over 7k miles on it, and my mpg indicator is about 14. Now, most of the driving is short distances in the city, towing a boat, or loaded down with ice fishing gear, so I wouldn't let my low mpg's scare you too much if you're not always hauling or you do more highway driving than I do.

Despite that, I would highly recommend one though. The new (2011's I think) have all new engine choices and are supposed to be even more fuel efficient. I would definitely check those out. It's my first Ford vehicle period and I'm impressed.

I had one, it was a 05 F-150 SuperCrew Lariat. I loved that truck, it looked new until the day I had to get ride of her. I could not afford the 8K+ a year in gas.

If I ever buy another truck to better beleave its going to be a Ford

EDIT: price on gas: well I think they are 27 gallon tanks, so what ever the price of gas is.

Pro's: best made truck in the USA, IMO.

Great trucks, I own two my wife drives a 09 crew cab king ranch I have a 03 single cab short bed with 140k miles that still tows like brand new. Never had a problem with either one, just oil and tires. The 2011 offers much better engines the 6.2 gas engine is no joke! Im trying to convince my wife I need a new one to tow the mustang around......

Owned a bunch of them since the mid 70's........my latest is a 2010 crew cab, they are impressive vehicles. They pull, haul, go thru snow and mud, and keep you comortable while doing so. The newer models are quieter than most cars and offer almost any option you can imagine.

Hell of a vehicle.......and the crew cabs have tremendous room in the back, more legroom than any normal sedan........or fold up the seats and starting piling several hundred dollars with of groceries in the back.

There not fuel sippers, but I wouldn't be without one. Indespensible in midwestern winters and sure handy for hauling.

I have never owned a truck only SUV's and sedans. Lately I have seen a ton of the new FORD 150's and I just fell in love with them. I have a 09 nissan altima now and would give anything to give it up for the 150. How much am I looking on gas to fill these things up?

Any pro or cons on these?

If you are overly concerned about fuel mileage, a truck is not a good choice. Understand the aerodyanics of pushing a "square box" down the highway at 70 mph. However... I put 30,000 to 40,000 miles/year on a 4wd pickup. Love them. Feel safer in them, driving in all kinds of weather on all kinds of highway conditions.
I do believe any of the major truck OEMs are producing quite good vehicles today. Personally, I drive Chevy Silverados. I've had nothing but excellent service from them. But... the F150s are great trucks.
The color schemes Ford is using on their newer models are very eye-catching. Beautiful!!! When I get another 100,000 on this Chevy... maybe...

Oh... if you do get a Ford truck, make sure you get the heated tailgate option. Ford began offering the heated tailgate when their owners complained of how cold the metal was when pushing the trucks home!!! :yahoo::yahoo:

  • 2 weeks later...

Heated tailgates...haha...thats a good one. I have a F-150 Supercrew Lariat and love it, up to and until the point that I go to the gas station. Luckily for me my drive to work is only 2 miles and I have other vehicles to drive when needed.

The truck is solid and is probably the best vehicle that I have ever owned. Would I buy it again? Hell yes. But if I was worried about fuel costs, I may have to hold that dream and buy something more efficient. Though 16mpg is not horrible if you dont have a long commute to work. Overall, it is a great vehicle and I am happy to own it.
