Dream car? That depends - is it my only car, and something that I would drive every day?

If so, that makes it easy: Mercedes E63 AMG, the naturally-aspirated mill, of course.

If the question is a collector car to own and drive occasionally, that is a MUCH harder decision, and one that would really make my head spin. I'm a real gear-head and I can't realistically narrow this down. Even so, I keep coming back to a car that I could drive frequently, do some of my own wrenching and tinkering on, and has the elemental, mechanical feel that I'd want in a car like this. May not be the most expensive, the most exotic, and is far from the fastest car out there, but it would have to be an air-cooled 911 Turbo of some vintage. Maybe as early as a '78 or '79 when they were still a real handful to drive.

For me i's a realistic dream car. 1978 Corvette... which is the Silver Anniversary. Silver on blue (w/ red pin stripe or silver on grey) I've always loved that car. For my wife it's a '57 Chev Belair black with flames and chrome... lot's of it.

realistic for the next year:
Late 80's/early 90's Ford F250/350 4 door, short bed, lifted on 35's... ready to rock the dirt, sand, hill climbs and just go get crazy and lost before shooting guns.

realistic for a few years from now:
Porsche 911 Turbo (my buddy just bought one, and man... if that thing isn't fun to drive!!!) - he bought a lightly used one, and I'm all about used cars, let someone else baby it and lose all the value, then swoop in and drive it for what it's worth!

Then I got one after I got a good job and my boss was selling his. (He wanted the next generation one) Although it's in the shop now . But it's the perfect car for me: powerful, agile, and I can bring 4 other people with me.

 

So in a couple years, after I finish with grad school, I'll pick up the newer M5 that should come out soon hopefully.

Yeah, the one flaw with that car....MPG....I think I get 14 to 15mpg in overall economy....and I have to use 93 octane...It's worse than an Escalade

yeah, but the end of the year cost on gas might be double the cost of a prius, but unless you drive a TON it's not a huge number... and you look way more than twice as cool driving the M5 ;-)

thanks. it has the CSL wheels, along with a genuine CSL bootlid and rear diffuser. Bilstein PSS10 coilovers and euro headers, Borla section 1/2 and catback, along with a DME reflash from Active. And a host of bushings and small parts.

After driving both the SRT8 is just filthy, but with gas prices and prices of each model the RT is the one to go with, for me anywho. Does decent on gas, and still delivers comprable power at a much lower price. If I could swing one, the B5 blue SRT is one of my favorite.
