PHX WRX'ers, I'm aiming to play the ASU Karsten course sometime before mid-May before I head up to Portland for the summer on an internship. I've heard it's sweet, plus I need a somewhat transparent excuse to meet my little sister's four smoking hot roomates. Would any of you be game?

We played in the same 4-some last year for the local wrx's get together at ahwatukee cc, remember? you were having a bad day, almost every hole we heard the phrase [b]Oh My God[/b]!...anyway I would be up for it, just get in touch when here and bring the roomates for caddy duties! I practice there every friday and it is in great shape,greens are perfect....O if you never played there before its a Pete Dye design and it's going to [b]eat your lunch[/b]....hasta j

That course is great. a bit overpriced during the winter months IMHO but still great. I would be down to play

I love the layout down there, and it was in great shape last thursday when I played it!

If only they could get rid of the power plant and all of the cables....

And it does play hard for a par 70 but if you're hitting the ball well its very possible to put a decent score together!

Oh and +1 on bringing the ASU chicks as caddies!!

Oh man, that was a rough few weeks. I remember writing about that after I managed to crack into the 30's in March a few months later. I had a bunch of life-altering events that really negatively affected my attitude on the golf course, as I felt it was the only thing I had left I was good at, and slapping the ball around like I did that day brought me to my knees. Well after taking a few months off the game while getting my life in order, I've realized that my hotheaded attitude on the course isn't acceptable to the game nor is it any way to make friends with outstanding people like yourself who I've had the honor of meeting on the course. While I can't guarantee that I'll play better golf (although it won't be hard to do), I am certainly dedicated to being a better representative of the game. I'll let you know within the next week or so, once I can find a weekend before finals week.

Karsten is now on the OB sports card, right now weekend @ $64 - that rate is good for the foursome. The first rate drop happens April 14, perhaps we should target that timeframe? Don't know what it will be after that, but less, I would assume

It is definitely a different sort of layout. I didn't think much of it but played it last spring for the first time in about 15 years and I actually enjoyed it more this time. It is without a doubt quirky and not your typical track, overshaped and manmade looking but whimsically done and overall fun to play except for the dual cape holes around the lake at 9 and 18. It may be the perfect "homefield advantage" type of course for the ASU teams because local knowledge can be key. There is an interesting mix of mowed down chipping areas and high rough near the greens, good to know where to miss.

And it is a pretty good walk!

If its 40 im in,... on a side not i have a tee time for Friday at 834 at vistal if anyone is interested... $29 for 18 w/ a cart.. not too bad of a course greens are always in good shape... PM me if anyone is interested

Fun track. It's not going to appear on anyone's best of lists, but it was a nice place to learn to play the game. Like a lot of Pete Dye designs, if you strike it good, you can post some very good scores. If you're off and miss in some bad spots, you can make some monster numbers. Look at the team score Vandy put up at the NCAA West Regional in...'08 I believe? I think they put up a team (-44).
