Sandia Golf Course - ABQ

Anyone have any reviews, thoughts, advice?

Playing out there next weekend and wanted some inside info from anyone who may have played it.

I've played it before, and found it to be a pretty fun course. Nothing really mind-blowing, but a good time. Pretty open and forgiving. Doesn't play nearly as long as yardage suggests(7600+).

Don't know if your round is set in stone yet, but if you have the chance to play Paa-Ko Ridge instead, go for that! My favorite course I've ever played. Also, the UNM course is a great traditional course right by the airport. Fairly easy off the tee, but the green complexes have subtle slopes and ridges that can make it very difficult to score if youre above the hole or out of position.

I visit ABQ 4 or 5 times a year, and I would rank PAA KO, then UNM, and then Sandia as my favorites that I've played so far.

I'm nt sure the rates on Paa Ko right now, but trust me, it will be worth every single penny, as I played there last april, the first day open after snow cleared and the turf was fantastic, and greens were so pure! I can't even imagine what that course plays like in peak conditions, it must be amazing! Have a fun trip and let us know what you think!

Sandia is a good tourist golf course, not too difficult. If just visiting for a few days I would rank the local best courses as: Paa Ko, Twin Warriors, UNM South, Cochiti, and Santa Ana. All are affordable and give a challenge.

I will have to agree with Paa Ko as a must play. I also took the drive to Cochiti and enjoyed my round there as well.

Have to ask, how far away from ABQ is twin warriors, conchiti, and santa ana? I try to play a new course every time I visit(and get to play). How about the course at Hard Rock Casino?

If I remember correctly, Cochiti is about an hours drive north of ABQ. Pretty drive, beautiful layout.

Thanks so much for the feedback guys. We have a rental car, so it is an option to travel some to play...as long as there is a spa nearby to occupy the wife

Any suggestions for around Ruidosa or Santa Fe? We are doing a day trip to one of the two, just haven't decided yet. If there is good golf, I'm open to trying it out!

heard beautiful things about Black Mesa. Cochiti is even closer to Santa Fe. Does it show I really like Cochiti? have fun!

Cochiti is my favorite course, use just about every club there.

My favorite around here is Twin Warriors. Paa-Ko is a close second only because I seem to lose a dozen balls every time I play there. Played a lot at TW lately and it's in great shape, but they are aerating their greens on Monday.

Sandia is also a very nice course. Like a post before, it plays a lot shorter than the yardage says. Pretty forgiving too. I think you will thoroughly enjoy it. Just hope the winds don't kick up for you.

I too have lost alot of balls at PaaKo. Accuracy is key because the pinions will eat them up.

No joke. Gonna get a few quality rounds in before I try and tackle that beast this year. What an amazing course though...
