I was just thinking about this, they are just unnecessary imo. They're really big and super heavy. They look cool but theres a point where functionality beats fashion. Why do you guys that use staff bags use them?

Staff bags are cool especially when they have your name
on them. When I see one I think "I don't know who this guy
is but I should". So when I get back home I look him up to
see what tour or team he's playing on. :)

I have one because it is f in awesome. Looks great makes me feel great and gets me all hype up to go play. I also have 3 light weight carry bags which i really just use one. I love golf and golf for the most part is mental so whatever works to make you feel better I say do it. It not any different from buying a set of clubs. Each there own. I'm sure everyone likes a great looking staff bag ;)

Yes, heavy when filled to the brim, as opposed to a carry bag filled. Though I don't use a staff bag, the only rational reasons I can imagine are staff bags carry more stuff, they stand up nicely where ever, and clubs don't get jumbled up. The only reason I don't use one is the amount of space it takes up in the trunk. A friend has one; it takes up too much trunk space, especially when four guys are riding in one car.

I used to go through a carry bag a season given how much I play but I got a ping staff bag for the trolley 2 seasons ago and it's still going strong. Loads of reasons why they are better:
- generally leather so more waterproof, durable and easier to clean (if that's your thing)
- store more stuff. I play a lot of inter club and tournament away matches which means you can't leave it to chance and you have to carry everything, waterproofs, food, water etc etc and all the little stuff that most people leave out, spare battery for a laser, medicine, plasters, driver wrench. This is the main reason I have one.c
- they look cool as f***
- easier to use and get clubs in and out.

I would have no problem spending £250 on a new one should I have to replace it.

if you want one go for it, they look nice and I like the club dividers. I never really walked s course until this year. i seen a 70+ man carrying his clubs and I told my self if that guy is doing it I can to. when I play by my self or with my brother we will walk the course. or when it's cart path only I'll end up walking. I prefer a stand bag, easy and light, doesn't fall over like my cart bag. idk bout walking 18 carrying a staff bag, I've carried my cart bag on a par3 and it deft was lot heavier to lug around a course. but really it's up to whoever wants a staff bag or not. I don't think anyone really cares what your lugging around. the ones who do are the ones who cares about appearances. I would like to have vapor staff bag

I carry a Staff bag because I like the way the bag is laid out. It's more traditional in form as opposed to newer cart bags and they carry better from the car to the cart. I could do without the logos and advertising but that's really the only way to get a bag now a days. Most bags I look at though have companies names plastered all over them, so it's tough to get away from.

I just find this topic funny and how things have changed. When I was younger and playing golf in High School and College most golfers carried bags that were either Staff bags or similar in style to staff bags without the logos. They would not want to get into money games playing with someone who walked up with a Jones bag or early Ping carry because most of the time those were the good players and nobody thought of a larger bag as a so called "Poser" bag.

If an amateur should not have a staff bag why should a pro. I'm sure the caddy would be happier carrying a lightweight bag around and yes all the gear would still fit. The pro gets endorsement money and the amateur carries that gargantuan hunk of leather around for free- god bless him.

And you pay $30,00 to drive around a vehicle a giant Ford/Chevy/Toyota logo across the front of it, on the side it, and on the back of it. What makes you different than staff bag guy? At least staff bag guy only paid $250.

if i can i will always go with my staff bag as it fits all my clubs and stuff comfortably and i ride almost all the time nowadays..

i only use my waterproof stand bags if i'm expecting it to rain and when traveling by air as it weighs much less than the others.....or when carpooling..

i also only bring a few clubs to the range so i use my smaller stand bags for that..

...and my staff bag looks cool!!

I don't care either way. We do tend to chuckle at guys with big staff bags and egos....when they take 10 practice swings and the real goes 15 yards though. I wouldn't want to have to carry one around though.

Has anybody truly watched someone walk a course with a staff bag? I haven't but I guess I'd love to watch that guy try to do it or I might be a little frightened by a guy who can and is willing to do so, especially in our summers down here. I put mine on my push cart and love it. I guess I have a stand bag to sell if someone wants it.

Last Tuesday I saw a guy carrying the Mizuno Tour Cart bag on the course with the single shoulder strap going over his head. My first thought was the poor guy should've bought the Tour Elite (staff) bag as that comes with two shoulder straps like a traditional carry bag.

The guy he was playing with was carrying his bag from the front handle - that looked like an even worse way to carry. A couple of minutes later we heard their tee shots and those sounds pretty much proved that they must have been beginners.
