So my membership at Ahwatukee came to an end yesterday...

a new "can you play this week" thread

It was a nice run, but I'm looking forward to playing some new courses!


That being said, can anyone play this week? I think I'm pretty good to play Monday around 130, in the tempe/chandler area, and can probably get out fri sat and sunday,too.


On Monday, I was thinking of Dobson Ranch maybe, it's $15 to walk after 1, or golfnow has Karsten for $29 at 1:04, superstition springs for $24 at 1:28

Still trying to stay under $40 right now if possible.

I miss Karsten. Dobson was actually the first time I ever broke 70...between those two courses and the range at Sewer View, you could get pretty good in a really short period of time.

Haha Sewer View! Thats the first course I ever broke 80 on( 36,36). This is the last year it will be open though, the city of mesa is building a huge water park on the land where Riverview sits.

Dobson Ranch is still super fun, never played Karsten but from what I've heard, I'll prob hate it too(Pete Dye etc)


I'll play dobson on friday after 1 if anyone wants to join, then Blake, keep me posted as to your plans for Sat, I'll see if anything cheap pops up!

Bummer, work is still pretty hectic, so I'm out of commission for the time being..Hopefully after May, I should have more time to play. Guys keep posting, if I can't play, at least I like hearing about the birdies and eagles you'll are making.

You an early bird Mark? what time would you like to play... part of town? im open to location but would like to play early

I can be an early bird if I need to be, so thank god for coffee. I'm really open to any part of town if the price is right, you know? Like I don't want to have to drive 45 minutes from south tempe to play a course for $40 if there is a decent course 20 minutes away for $45 haha.

What's in teh middle area for both of us? Have you played Vistal lately?

I played a few weeks ago fairways are below average but greens are usually pretty nice but they dont have a tee time befor 1pm. I saw that the duke is only $34 ... and Golf Club at Estrella has an 11 oclock tee time for 34.50 id love to get out there.

I hate the course....one of the, if not THE most inconsistent conditions in AZ.

 

I avoid if at all possible.

 

 

I am probably going to get a membership at Alta Mesa...so If I do I will see if anyone wants to come out.

Alta is $500 + 250 per month. Gonna try and get the 500 waived since two of use are contemplating joining.

Conditions are awesome there...great facility...all about golf!!!! 3/4 of the members are single digit HCs. Great way to improve the game!

I thought about Whirlwind as well....but the up front cost didn't suit. I can swing the 250/mo and make it worth the price and not have to play there every round!

Nope. That is the membership. Nothing about trial in the discussion. They are doing it the right way IMO. They have another membership that gives equity position and voting and all that rigamarole. I just want golf!

Yeah I talked with them this morning and under 44 years of age, the 12 month trial membership is $199/month, and at the end of the 12 months you can join up at a rate of $250/month with a $15,000 initiation fee, but the 12 month trial rates cut in to the initiation, and then the $15,000 is divided up by how many months you have until you turn 44, and can be added in to the monthly fees.

I think I'll continue to be rogue until rates jack up again, then Shalimar!

I've never played it either, but I think I'm gonna go out there next week some time after finals. they open it up to prospective members. Looking at the course layout online, it's not long at all but it seems like a placement course, as there are a lot of old-growth trees and very small greens.

Keep me posted Mark.. May is a pretty busy month, next month would/should be better for me. Hopefully my game won't fall apart by then... Tell Matt not to spin one out of the desert to a foot of the pin.

No im out for sunday. It will have been 2 weeks since I picked up a club when we play wekopa. Hmm I may need some range time this week hahaha don't want another 47-36 to happen

ha I just finished up about 99% of my sleeve today, 4 hours of getting tattooed right on the elbow and in the front ditch/fold area, I'll be lucky if I can even swing a golf club this week haha.
