Is this course any good?

Well... Not a must play by any means but I would say it's worth $40 for two with lunch!

Desert Canyon is formerly the Fountain Hills Golf Club, this course dates back to 1971. I've played it a half dozen times back in the 80's (when there were fewer choices). Shortish and with a few awkward holes routed through some narrow canyon corridors that play steeply uphill or downhill. Several doglegs that bend sharply forcing a layup off the tee. While there is some native desert surroundings, it plays more like a traditional, parkland style.

Of the 6 courses in the Fountain Hills area, I would rank it 6th.

But for $20/man with a HOT DOG, it would be an OK value.

Yeah pretty much what tom said I used to play out there quite a bit when they had reasonable prices in the winter. It won't blow you away but for that deal worth a play

That is a LOT cheaper than they charge during the peak season. I had to pay double that amount to play one round back in Feb.

Be sure to pay attention to the layout when you finish #5. Holes 6 and 7 are across the street and you have to drive under the road to get to them. If you don't recognize it, you will go over and tee up on the par-3 #8, which is right next to 5's green.

The course has some gimmicky holes, but at less than $20 per round plus lunch, it is a good deal. They also had a cute girl selling hot dogs and drinks on the #10 tee box, so that makes it even better.

Yeah they used to charge 40 to 50 bucks during peak season about 3 years ago then they shot way up for some reason
