thanks for the encouragement everything should arrive tomorrow shafts epoxy and ferules, ill probably shaft up the 5,7, and 9 iron and see what happens to distances and or feel. my sister works at a water park near my home and they also have a golf course. so i can get out to "play" without encountering trouble .going to go sunday and practice on a par 3 for a couple hours if everything goes as planned. hope to shaft the rest up later that day. @JJgolfwrx

Great info here!

Wondering if I’m finding a discrepancy in the Titleist Golf Shaft Fitting Shaft Chart and the Hireko Chart?

I was looking to get a set of clubs, and the shaft options available in the clubs I’m interested have TT XP 115 shafts and the other set has KBS tour V 110 shafts.

Am I reading the numbers wrong for Tip Frequency?

TT XP 115 926 on Hireko

TT XP 115. 859 on Titleist

Dynamic Gold 924 at 37” Hireko

Dynamic Gold 907 at 39’ Hireko

Dynamic Gold 921 on Titleist

KBS tour 90 883 at 41.25’ on Hireko

KBS tour 90 840 on Titleist

KBS Tour V 921 at 39’ on Hireko

KBS Tour V 921 on Titleist

I am moving away from the X100 due to lower back arthritis and getting older. I do like a stiffer tip due to still generating a bit of speed..... 95 mph 7 iron

I have a slower rhythmic tempo and a longer swing ( a bit like the guy from T. X. G Matt?)

I did go on the Mizuno shaft optimizer, but honestly I am looking for something that’s stiff enough in the tip, but still light.

The Mizuno Shaft optimizer recommended

1. PX 6.5

2.KBS C-Taper

3.PX 6.5 LZ

None of which I cared for.

I hit the Modus 120x and liked it, but that’s not available to me, the 2 sets I’m eyeing have the TT XP 115 or KBS Tour V

Any input would be appreciated...

thank you!

@Driving Range Hero@Drivingrangehero If you have a slower transition like Matt, softer butt section and stiffer tip shafts are usually what you are looking for such as the modus 120x. Unfortunately, The modus 120x shaft is kind of like a unicorn, there's really nothing quite like it. However, there are some that are similar, such as the Project X LZ 6.0. It has a some-what similar design and weight and honestly that's the key. If you like the weight feel to the modus 120x, you need to take that into account as well.

thanks!

My thing is that I am limited to 2 sets of clubs. 1 has the XP 115 and the other has the KBS Tour V.

if I were buying new, and had the option to choose, I’d choose the Modus 120x, they were the best feeling shaft I’ve ever hit, and fit my swing very well. I did have good results with the PX 6.5 LZ but they are not an option on the sets I’m considering buying.

Ive never hit the Tour V or the XP 115, but those are what’s available to me for the right price!

I’m wondering about the tip stiffness on Both the XP 115 and Tour V, perhaps in relation to a Modus 120 or a X100 since I am familiar with those shafts.

my conundrum is that the Hireko chart seems to be different than the Titleist chart, especially in regards to the XP 115 either that, or I’m reading these numbers wrong?.

This 2 shafts is so far apart, they are not options for the same player, even weight is too far apart with 10 grams.

Modus 120X is one of the softest X label shafts on the marked, PX 7.0 is one of the strongest models there is.

I am probably crazy, but I just found a set of irons with apollo hump X flex irons shafts in them. They look hardly used and for $50 bucks I thought I would give them a go. I remember really liking those shafts in the past and they are super hard to find in X stiff now a day.

Will have to pull and reinstall them and I have never done that either, but it does not really appear too hard.

What? Flex is in the same area, but not the same, bend profiles is both low launch but not the same, and its the same company who makes both, the rest is different, one is a stepped model, the other stepp less, even weight is different, so they are not "virtually the same shaft", but options for the same players.

In terms of practicality, these shafts are directly comparable profiles. Sensitive players will feel the subtle difference I alluded to, but in a fitting, there will likely be similar numbers and reaction from the player. Most people think the X7 is closer to an X100 profile than a PX 7.0, which is why I made the distinction.

The most distinctive feature is the X7 has a greater set stiffness range than the Project X 7.0 and thus will be more flighted short irons and more active long irons.

RIFLE FCM 7.0 is not even close to be comparable with Dynamic Gold X7, and the player will not respond or swing them the same, their profiles dont even look like something close.

They are not, and dont pull this tread off topic with what ever opinions you might have about shafts, this topic is strictly about FCM ratings and flex, and thats the only parameter X7 and PX 7.0 is close, the rest is different.

They are not even the same on length, weight, butt diameter, steps or lack of it, and EI profile, so no this shafts is NOT the same and never was.

Can some of the MODS please CLOSE this topic, and unlock it from being pinned here in the top

10 years of maintenance of this tread is about to go down the drain here when some profiles think shaft specs is trivial and a joke.

Uncut length matters, its about shaft weight, and the actual wgt difference between this 2 shafts, or grams pr inch, steps vs step less matters, so does but section diameter....its 2 different shaft, they was never the same, or meant to be the same.

Yes and no....

We can use the FCM system to find a starting point for testing on any other club in the bag, but Project X flex labels does NOT belong to the FCM system, so "PX 6.0" does NOT mean FCM 6.0.

For more details about the FCM system, and how we can use it for woods, follow this link.
