Wedgewood 9/16/2011
I played Wedgewood in Conroe yesterday for $20.00 For a daily fee course, and considering the drought we're in, it was a great experience. It was my first time playing there and the elevation changes were nice. Eagle Pointe's topography does not compare to Wedgewood. Fairways and greens were in great shape. The bunkers were a little inconsistant, but pretty good. I wish I lived closer. It was a long trip from Clear Lake.

Haven't played there in a long while. Last time I was there, lots and lots of hard bare ground when you got to the edge of the fairways.

Another fun course up in Conroe to play is just a little before Wedgewood on the opposite side of 105...Links at Westfork. It has some elevation changes. Probably more than Eagle Pointe but less than Wedgewood.

I know there are alot pros/cons about this layout...but having revisting it lately after 15 years, I really took a liking to Wedgewood. Playability varied alot because of green conditions, which were generally hit or miss. $20 a bargain. Well, looks like I played my last round there yesterday, cause I left my sunglasses in a cart & called them to see if they were found after the round, they said yes, you better come get them, cause we are closing down the course Jan. 31. I am bummed, a true shot makers course, where length isn't a priority, but course management is mandatory. Living in Houston, guess I will save on gas though.

You know I still them on Golfnow.com so who knows I would call to make sure if they are still open...I'll be back then.

We played WW on good Friday, havn't played there in 10 or so years, so I was looking forward to it. The good, most of the courses were booked up for good Fri., and WW got us a t-time, and for the $27 Golfnow rate, the course is still neat to play, decent shape (fairways, t-boxes), fun holes, alot of dog legs, the bad would be the greens, they were in pretty bad shape, hard, bare, and dead.
Would I play it again, maybe, especially worth the $27 if you havn't played it in a while. The cart girl was cute (hey, that's a plus), said she's been out there for 7 years (incase any of you remember her), and they sure have some really, really nice houses on the course (I don't remember houses being on WW last time I played it, they looked like they've been recently built). All in all, we were glad we made the drive out (we live on Lake Houston).
