As a retired 30 year Navy man, I recall the good old days when only sailors, Hells Angels and convicts had tattoos. Nowadays even my female doctor has them. She congratulated me on the set of lips tatted on my posterior that i got in Hong Kong long ago, but told me she could'nt show me hers, no sense of adventure, I guess. The world has gone to heck in a hand basket.

I appreciate good tattoo work, but the vast majority of the stuff I see now is either mediocre artwork by the artist or a lack of imagination by the person getting one. Some people are literally just covered in crap.

Maybe one person in twenty shows me a well done tattoo and has a story behind it.

It's 2012, the number of people with tattoos is ridiculous and to exclude someone because they have them is bigotry, nothing more.

I've got 5, all religious symbols, and all in places you'd never see them (Each shoulder, back, inner bicep up high, and trapezius). I like em, looking back I'd be ok either way, whether I'd gotten them or not, but also recognize that despite their mainstream appeal, they're still often seen as a drawback in the business world.

My guess is that some of this new "Tattoo Removal" technology that's not just laser related, will take off over the next few decades as all the Jersey Shore/Spring Breakers of the world head in to undo what they did so foolishly.

Seems like if you don't have a tattoo then you are in the minority these days. Used to be the non-conformist way of expressing yourself. Now that so many people have them you end up being just like everyone else. Skulls, skeletons, flames, barbed wire, tribal, I just don't get it.

Opinions....everyone has one. But understand that you may be telling 15-20% of the people on this site that they made bad LIFE decisions. Including myself and my wife (who has a floral sleeve that she got at age 38 and she is getting ready to add onto it).

I think there are less tattoos in golf than in some other sports, because golfers don't have team-mates to convince them what a brilliant idea it is to get them.

I have a Japanese style sleeve on my left arm going to my chest, It starts with a KOI during into a full dragon on my chest mixed with water, cherry blossoms etc, people don't really pay attention to it on-course which I find is nice. Here's a picture of me in Hawaii in 2011, cant see tattoo well but this is how I look golfing. PS - This was my first swing after a 5 month lay-off so my follow thru is a result of a terrible swing lol

Well, the story begins when I was unfortunate enough to get my bicep all wrapped up in this strand of barbed wire...

Obviously I am not a pro-golfer, however I have full sleeves and shoot a fairly low score. When I go to the driving range/course I do get staired at but no more than anywhere else. As time goes on I am sure we will be seeing pro's with more and more tattoos as tattoos are slowly being the norm.
