Cast players- 962b
Cast GI- Eye2
Forged players- X-300-fci
Forged GI- Mizuno 825

I could be wrong but I think the 825's are cast not forged.

Also, just curious... Has anyone been playing the "latest & greatest" irons and then reverted back to their old "classics"? What were the results? Did you like the feel of the old clubs, did you play better or worse w/ the older vs newer? I have sets of all of the clubs mentioned above (excluding the Armours) and was thinking about hanging the AP2's up for a while and going back to the Eye 2's or the X-14's. Thoughts?

Hi
Thinking along the same lines. Currently gaming cally legacy blacks reading this thread saw mention of the TM RAC LTs. Fond memories of the LTs and might pick up a set to try against the callys. Might simply be being nostalgic for the time I played decent golf lol.
Would love to hear from anyone that moved back to the LTs from todays tech.

Ram Tour Grind Axial Blades, Titleist AC108's, Ping Eye 2's, Titleist DCI Black or DCI-B's, TaylorMade ICW5's, Maxfli Aussie Blades TM-92, Mizuno TP-21's, Grads and TN 87's or 91's, Ping S59's (first iron with rubber insert). Seems to me any other irons are really variants of these designs.

Callaway X forged 09: The best of 10 sets I've tried
[/quote]

Ive only played that set since I began playing gold and theyre gonna be hard to beat I beleive. (I know theyre tons of better irons out there but their feel is great, workability A1 and forgiving enough for me)

I will prolly go for mizunos next set. I like the MP-64 a lot.

PS those nikes are really nice!

I own My two favorite. Vega vm-01 raw blank tour samples with hand ground leading and trailing edge. All the Titleist custom grind MB that immediately predates the legendary 681 .... USA Hoffman forged and as soft and solid as anything made today. I think to be fair you have to break this up into time zones. The mid 90s to early 2000s is a great period. As is the 69-70s for staff and hogan. But I don't know if they all compare equally. 99 apex has to be in the discussion too for me as is mp33. Modern MB would be the mp 68 and the Callaway MB line. The razr MB x Proto and mb1 ( yes they exist ).

Callaway epic max LS 9* GD-M9003 7x

TM Sim2 max tour  16* GD  ADHD 8x

srixon zx 19* elements 9F5T

Cobra king SZ 25.5* KBS TD cat 5 70

TM p7mc 5-pw Mmt125tx

Mizuno T22 raw 52-56-60 s400

LAB Mezz Max armlock

MacGregor irons from their heyday (remember they had a period of golf club domination of 30-40 years) out of their custom program or personally crafted sets, must be in the conversation.

Before 2000 some of the Maruman, Mizuno, Daiwa and Maxfli irons were superb. Post-2000, I wouldn't include anything from the major OEMs and would look to the boutique manufacturers from Japan (and this is not just Miura).

These Orlimar/Tad Moore irons are the best looking ive ever had and they are all bent different degrees from the R&D I guess so they have a chance to be my numero uno once I have the bent to my specs. I've played around with them on the short course and you can't believe its not butter when you hit one flush. Although its hard to when one club is 2.5* upright, the next is 2* flat, then 0.5* upright and so on. They are my number two strictly based on looks and feel from a few shots.

These look very much like Taylormade RAC irons. Not sure which came first, though. LOL
