judging players by their bags

> Solid player that is not opposed to trying newer stuff in long game, yet only will change if better than previous stuff. Very particular about shaft profile/feel, probably more of a feel player and swinger of club that either delofts or launches ball low, prefers feel of bit of kick in shaft to get ball in proper window. You watch older footage of Tiger, Hideki, and Adam Scott and tell anyone that will listen "dude knows what's up on shafts" while people look at you uncomfortably.?Seriously, you know AD DI profile suits you, so why change?

> You're a feel player that is very accurate with irons and wedges and all about consistency, not bragging about distances from strong lofts.

> The putter could throw many off, either don't make as many as used to so trying new way to make a few more, or truly believe in fitting of flatstick since that's where the money is made.

> Would guess you are a solid 5 handicap that used to be a few lower who plays fast, still has a competitive streak, yet still knows how to enjoy friendly, relaxed round as well. Would plant a tee with you anytime.?

Pretty good! Pret-tay pret-tay pret-tay pretty good!

* I'll likely get a M4 head later this year and am open--but not motivated--to a shaft change, but I'm not tinkering with my fairway metals. At all.

* Love my Tour AD DIs and KBS Tours. I self fit into the latter five years ago and it was luckily confirmed by professional fittings.

* Definitely a feel player. I don't launch it low but probably do like a little bit of kick now that I think about it.

* I watch swing videos of five guys and you nailed two of them. In addition to Tiger and Scott, I like Oosthuizen (all-around perfection), DJ (takeaway and shoulder turn), and Scott Piercy (transition).

* Always a set PW bent to 48 and just two wedges beyond that. Always.

* No issues with the putter. I got my Edel six years ago and have never thought of replacing it.

* Haha, I probably am a 5 right now and was a weak 1 at my best (only played a handful of rounds in the past year due to injury). When I'm not playing alone I'm either trying to keep up with my buddy who belts it 320 or with friends who struggle to break 100.

I don't know where you live but you're probably a blast to play with!

Jack Bauer,

Reference to players was regarding their mutual love for AD DI over the years, not swings, yet can see how that could have been misconstrued. Regarding swings- good choices there, personally like those along with Stenson, Fleetwood, and Paul Casey.

You are 72 yo and should probably be playing a g400 Max set at 12 degrees in your driver setup.

Oh yeah! You should think about getting a 4wd too.

Have loved reading through these...great topic. Oh the bags I’ve misjudged in my time. Best one I ever saw...got paired with a guy in a Monday qualifier. He was about 45 built like a linebacker and looked the part. He had a Taylor bubble Tour burner spoon, as his only wood. The first hole you only needed to hit it about 260 out to the corner of the dogleg. He hits it 250 right in the center. Next hole hits it 280...dead perfect. Next hole he hits it 350. Dial-a-Distance. It was unreal. If I remember right he shoots about 68 and if he would have putted a lick it would have been 60. On the first tee I was thinking 80 might be a good number for him.

That was then...now what does my bag say about me.

I have no clue what my bag says about me so please inform me! But only if it’s nice, and only if it will help my self confidence, and only if it doesn’t result in me posting my entire bag on bst and starting over lol. Just kidding, have at it:

if we got put together on a saturday morning i'd assume you never even hit the hybrids and just bomb the driver and hit a wedge on most holes.

That would be a pretty close assumption. Depending on the course that is. You are right though...the two clubs on top in that bag, driver/putter and the copper colored ones on the bottom are the keys to my game. The rest is just fluff, including those space filling hybrids.

My first thought...this guy might be a player!

Next thought...he hits a very controlled ball flight and I can’t wait to watch this short game. I always pay attention to wedges and putters. They tell a lot of stories in silence.

Side note...nice place!!! Wow that’s sharp

I’m a total poser. Shot 93 today and played pretty awful. I switch out 2 iron and rescue based on how I’m swinging and course I’m playing. Although if you saw that 2 iron I hit today on the first tee you’d have thought I was a baller.

I would assume you're more of a mechanical putter than a feel putter. The 2 iron makes me question whether you're really as good as you think, especially if you have a Taylormade staff bag. On the other hand, the fact that you change it with a hybrid depending on conditions shows that you actually put some thought into it. I'd say mid to high 80s on average. Worse if you play from the tips.

I'd be curious as to what people think about my bag:

Ping G 9* (Stock Alta stiff shaft)

Taylormade V-Steel 3w,5w (Stock steel shafts)

Cleveland 588 forged CB 3-6, MB 7-P (KBS C-Taper 130g X shafts)

Maltby MG 52, 56 (KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 S)

Copper BB0 with a carbon fiber insert

2013 Ping Hoofer. I walk.

Ball is Srixon Z-Star or Q-Star tour depending, depending on conditions.

Ping G410 9*

Ping i210 4-U
Ping Glide Stealth 54, 60

Judging from the description of your bag, I would say you are a ball striker that takes a prime focus on his short game. An original Ping loyalist, you have recently extended your brand selection and have found some decent clubs to add to your bag within the last ten years.

Would love some feedback on my bag:
