Best Greens in Atlanta

I'm playing tomorrow and was looking to get some feedback on current conditions of greens. I played Wolf Creek last weekend and their greens are in phenomenal shape. If anyone has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Looking to spend less than $80. Thanks.

Wolf Creek does indeed have really good greens, especially this time of year.

I played the Coweta Club last weekend -- greens are fantastic there as well. They are fast and that course is a great value.

I played the frog yesterday. greens looked great, rolled true but i thought they were a little fuzzy. I really like the greens at Echelon and you can probably get on for around $80

In the metro Atlanta area, Wolf Creek does indeed have some of the best putting bent greens year round.

Will agree that Echelon has excellent greens.

I played Eagles Brook last year and their greens were superb as well.

I think wolf creek has a golf outing this weekend. Tried to play there yesterday and that's what they said. Not sure if it was just a Saturday thing or a Saturday/Sunday thing. Call before you make the drive just to be sure.

Played the newest course in Atlanta, South Wind, instead. It was short but a great layout. Had some challenging par 4s. You can tell its still very young and the bent greens have struggled to heel from being punched. Why they didn't install miniverde is beyond me.

Believe it or not some of the fastest greens right now are at Bobby Jones and Chastain. I played both those courses along with East Lake last week and East Lake's greens were slow compared to the munis. I was completely shocked!

yeah, wolf creek had an event on saturday. i went to coweta club and as advertised the greens were great. tough layout as well. we played the blue tees (~6600 i think) and it was a good day. the greens were fast and in some cases pretty slopey. overall a really fun course, i'll definitely go back there.

i've played echelon and their greens are solid, although for the money i'll take both wolf creek and coweta club. thanks for all the responses and keep them coming if you guys play other atlanta area courses with nice greens.

If you can get on there, Berkley Hills has probably the best in town. They are very fast.

Anyone that has Miniverde or Champions this time of year are going to be in great shape and fast. Why a club would install Bent over this is beyond me.

Unless they're dead, pretty much every courses' greens look good from a distance (even after aerification). I've never played the Frog when the greens are even above average. They're always "fuzzy" to say the least.

I haven't played Berk since September but I don't want to think about how fast those greens are right now. They might be unplayable.

You are so right about miniverde. It's definitely a $10,000 per green renovation to do it right, but so many courses in Georgia would do themselves a favor by switching from bent. They might be able to get away for $4,000 per green if you don't remove the contamenated soil (hoping the miniverde would eventually over power the bent).

I wish more courses would switch.

The greens at Browns Mill are excellent as well. Out of all the city muni's, I think I really prefer the layout of BM the most.
