Can anyone explain why the players take so many practice putts on the greens after a hole is completed? Is this something which is only allowed in Match play?
Yes, in match play it is allowed...stroke play it isn't...
Actually, the rules of golf allow it, both stroke play and match play. The PGA Tour however, has a condition of competition that prohibits practice putts after completion of a hole.

Some food for thought.

Why does Greg Norman always look angry?

If they banned certain groove types, how on God's green earth is that thing Adam Scott is using legal?

Re: Adam Scott....Because he can....along with any other player who wishes to do so.

It's very ironic that this topic is rearing its head again because I had a handwritten note that was dropped in the passenger side gullwing window of my DeLorean that read "you need to stop using those futuristic looking PING cavity back Eye 2 irons."

So, I continued to read and the phrase "you need to get rid of those space age steel shafts in those NASA looking PINGs......hickory only here!!"

I blew the letter off because I knew I was well within the rules of golf.

Very ironic timing though

That is much more polite, although just as sarcastic, as what I was going to say.

but if you were going back in time, why wouldn't you just bring your current irons? Seems crazy to go back in time and then buy irons in then-1984. Especially when there's ample room in the passenger seat to bring your current set. The story just doesn't add up, i don't really think this happened

If it is within the Rules of Golf, please remind me of why you're opposed to it?

Perhaps it's because you think it's unfair and you don't have big boy seat at the voting table when the yay/nay votes are cast?

The last time I checked Legal = Legal...regardless of what 'everyman' thinks.

Funny how those white spheres they're hitting aren't made of wood anymore.

does anyone else have an issue with DJ AND Tiger taking iron off the tee one down on 18? I know the wind is brutal, but you have to win the hole. I dont know. very frustrating.

Make your judgmental case to Warnaco (Stock Symbol WRC) which owns Speedo, and has seen its stock rise more than 30 percent over the last month...and the owners of ~45M shares of their Common Stock.

What's "right or wrong" is a matter of opinion.

What's Legal or Not-Legal is a matter of fact.

Edit....Better yet, I suggest you set up shop in Augusta Georgia and make your anti-belly case heard worldwide by picketing the Masters in your "Occupy Augusta" effort.

Has Jason Day ever made a putt that has meant anything? The guy is garbage. All over the map and I swear I've never seen the guy make a putt in a high pressure situation in a high pressure event. Plus his animated reactions are extremely immature. He really bugs me. But at least he got rid of the herpes he had on his face last week... Low blow, but it's ok this week.

he's played in only 8 majors and has 3 top 10's and two 2nd place finishes. Along with a PGA win. He made some very big putts at the masters this year. Plus good thing he got rid of the "herpes", now he can go back to spending time with his super hot wife. Damn i think i hate Jason Day too.

While my opinion of him is not that extreme, I did start having doubts about him after seeing him play home turf and not coming through twice in 2 weeks.

I think I've lost all hope in Tiger officially. I really thought he would excel in this match play format. But IMO Tiger is officially hopeless. He might win a few tournements later, but I highly doubt he will ever dominate the game again.
you have to realize that this is the hardest course these guys will play all year, on 17 I'm sure that tiger expected his ball to take a big hop.

Have you ever made a post that meant anything? Better yet, have YOU made a putt that meant anything? The guy made a few putts out there today, even if they were inside 5 feet. With the amount of people watching, I bet you couldn't sink a putt on greens that were 14's either. How about you stop putting a PROFFESIONAL golfer down by saying he can't make a putt?
