Not sure what the point of Phil needing a putting coach was based on my comments about Tiger, but no I don't think he does. I personally think that just puts way more thoughts and technique in both of their heads. They both always have had terrific feel and that is most important in putting. I will say Phil would need it before Tiger though. As good of a putter as Phil has been at times he was never close to Tiger - especially when it had to be made.

As far as sitting someone out, I think it would be Tiger and DJ. I doubt very much that Freddie will sit Tiger but maybe it would piss him off enough to get his sh!t in gear. Plus maybe he could practice his old putting stroke all morning and finally make something.
Did you see Tiger eagle putt today that he miss by a inch? How about his 25 foot putt that he put in the center of the cup. I didn't see any of that from Phil today.

I think the International team missed a good opportunity today. With the wind out of the South and the course playing the hardest it possibly could, it seems that would be when their home course advantage would prevail. They didn't capitalize today.

I thought Tiger played pretty well today. Putt here and there falls and it is a different score.

Damn, Tiger's 80 foot eagle putt was closer to going in than DJ's 4 foot birdie putt on 17 that they desperately needed.

Watching the highlights it showed how much tigers partners really did not contribute at all. Dj had zero birdies!

There were some players on both teams much worse than Tiger today and not many that were better.

But some simpletons just look at 0-2 and claim he was bad.

Watson/Simpson and Mickelson/Furyk are playing NICE. 2 points US.

Ernie can't get the Ishikawa anchor off his neck. 1 point US.

Internationals take the other two.

I like the President`s Cup format way better than the Ryder Cup.

The way they set the matchups is way better.

All the players playing the first 2 matches is way better.

The 4 players who sit tomorrow morning have to play in the afternoon.

It is a much truer test for the best team with the most depth of talent to win.

I completely agree. You can't hide players. See Europe's failed 1999 Ryder Cup strategy.

Tiger was one of the best players that I saw today.
I think both teams have much more to be worried about than Tiger Woods.

People who judge Woods on 12 holes of alternate shot with a struggling partner don`t have a clue.

Hey guys, new to the forum here, but I have been a lurker for quite some time.

Anyway, disappointing to say the least about Tiger Woods losing two matches in succession. If only that eagle putt had dropped, or that 5 footer on the first, or that chip on the last, ugh! (and yes, I'm aware that you could say the same about anyone)

Ishikawa is such a good putter, but his long game hasn't been anywhere near consistent.

Here's how I expect tomorrow to play out:

7:00 AM Simpson/Watson Allenby/Ogilvy Tie
7:12 AM Haas/Kuchar Els/Ishikawa USA
7:24 AM Mahan/Toms Goosen/Schwartzel INT
7:36 AM Woods/Johnson Scott/Choi USA (I hope)
7:48 AM Mickelson/Furyk Baddeley/Day INT

Sorry IMHO, he not going to get much better. He has too much ego to leave driver in the bag, his putting isn't great, although he can improve that.
I think I've lost all hope in Tiger officially. I really thought he would excel in this match play format. But IMO Tiger is officially hopeless. He might win a few tournements later, but I highly doubt he will ever dominate the game again.
you have to realize that this is the hardest course these guys will play all year, on 17 I'm sure that tiger expected his ball to take a big hop.

this is a match play event, not the be all end all of the rest of tigers career. meaning theres still plenty of time for tiger to get even better, short game is already back.

So you're basing this on his t-30 at the frys, t-3 at the australian open and how he has played in alternate shot and best ball?

Are you sure you don't WANT tiger to come back as opposed to truly believing that he won't come back? Perhaps finding out about him banging porn stars has affected you a little too much.

Tiger would probably be the first to tell you that getting the win is all that matters.

Did he play particularly poorly? no. but he's 0-2 and he'd tell you those are poor results.

What part of "Tiger was one of the best players that I saw today" do you find so difficult to comprehend?

That is not a claim that he is ready to dominate the game again, unlike idiots who claim that this validates their wet dreams that he is done.

This President's Cup has been great to watch. I love watching any event that involves match play, and you have to love coming home and having live golf on in prime time here on the east coast of the US.

I know someone who has played Royal Melbourne and he says it has to be one of the 5 finest golf courses in the world. After watching this competition, I think he's right. It has to be right there with Pine Valley, Cypress Point, Muirfield, Augusta National, et. al.

Can't wait to see more.

Of course 0-2 is a poor result.
Thank you for stating the obvious.

12 holes of alternate shot is not even the equivalent of 6 holes of golf yet we have idiots who think that this shows that Woods is washed up.

I'm seeing those pairing as an advantage for the internationals as well. The only one I think is a clear US winner is the first pairing (I'm just not hot on Allenby)....I think Ernie and Ryo will actually pull through in this one....I could see the internationals walk away with 3.5 to 4 point in those.
