NC Outtttttting

As some of you may know, members of a certain site and former members such as myself played on Sunday at Tanglewood Park (Championship Course) on Sunday.

 

I just thought I'd add a thread here as I know many of the guys there are also members here (or former members there). :(

 

We had a great time even though the weather was nasty- 59*, drizzle, muddy, windy (10 to 15 constantly) and just wet all over. But the course was in great shape. For a muni, this course is always in great shape.

 

I played w/ Seasuks (Marc) and Challenger (Stephen). I'm not sure what Stephen shot, but I limped in w/ an 82 and Marc posted a 74 and that was with at LEAST 10 putts missed inside 10 feet. He is crazy long off the tee and throws darts w/ the irons. That was fun watching him play.

 

I'm sure he and some others that attended will chime in here as well.

 

Attached are pics from the days events. Unfortunately, many are of just Marc and Stephen since that's the group I was in. I also took some equipment pics from other attendees.

This is my favorite. Below is MY ball that was a pretty good poke. I'd say it's a little below my average length, and in the background is Marc that absolutely KILLS his driver. He's as long or longer than ANYONE I've ever played with. And I've played with some "bighitters". :(

It was a fun day. I'm relatively new to NC and had never even heard of tanglewood before. Next time any of you guys are in the Raleigh area, give me a shout and we'll go play.

I don't know if Stephen received permission or not. That's why I titled it NC Outting... :(

I know that no hats or headcovers or anything was sent as giveaways from that site. I also forgot to pick up Arby's gift certificates for low scores, close to the pin and long drive... :)

I hate you were not able to attend and I hope the baby shower went well. :)

I absolutely love that "Banned" headcover. But I do have one question: Now that you're banned, can you return the thousands of dollars worth of Ozik shafts, "certified" heads, and other stuff that's supposed to give you "at least 10-15 more yards"? :(

 

It looks like you got cheated based on how much further ahead Marc was off the tee.

Always a good time with Marc and Stephen. Two really great guys that I was proud to get to know earlier this year in Virginia Beach.

 

Despite the antics and stupid games that some paranoid salesmen have to play on these sites, this is the part that I like the most. Just a bunch of crazy golf guys getting together to play some golf. I had a great time playing with Brian (3Jackanono) at Annbriar a while back and loved meeting a bunch of you in Va Beach.

 

Thanks for the great pictures, Eric. Don't let Marc's distance disappoint you too much.

 

Now let's go tackle Stephen and shave his head! :(

Is this yardage table like a mythical table, or does it really exist? Does playing Aldila shafts automatically prevent me from sitting at this table? Could you respond here with harrumphs and huff and puffs and question how I could fit someone on recommendation? Have you done 10,000 fittings, which would be 5 a day for 6 years straight including holidays and weekends?

Thanks for sharing the pics! I have to agree with Stage, the best part of these forums is meeting great guys that share a passion for a silly game like golf and great senses of humor.

 

I attended a similar event a couple of months ago, and I can honestly say that it's so great to meet people face to face, shake their hand, and understand the kind of great people that serve as the life of these forums.

 

Wish I could have attended and shared some laughs and stories with you guys. Maybe in the future. :(

I do believe it's a mythical table. Marc and I looked for it at Tanglewood but didn't find it...

Were you guys able to hang out after the round, or did most of the chatting take place before your first tee time? It's always nice to visit with folks about the forums, and what the hot news is...equipment and whatnot.

The majority of damage, or conversation, was done before the round... It was nice. :)

After the round we all hung out in the grill and paid out for the skins and shot the bull.

I've played Tanglewood's Championship course a couple of years back and loved it. Keep me in the NC Loop.

 

Any of you guys ever played Mill Creek G&CC in Mebane, NC?

Nice pics Eric. I especially like the one where I'm waving back at you :)

 

I had a great time playing Tanglewood but the greens gave me fits. I hit 15/18 greens and missed eleven, yes eleven, putts inside of eight feet. Oh well, it was the company that made the round enjoyable.

 

It was also nice to meet up with a bunch of guys from NC. I think I was the only one there from SC since I drove 2.5 hours to get there. Good time though.

 

I didn't see the mythical table with the yards on it. Frankly, I don't think it exists. If it does, and Eric finds it, he might get to the point where they're only building a regular Wal Mart between our tee shots instead of a Supercenter :)

 

This is me saying "good drive Eric, come on, you can do it" :( That cracks me up.

 

By the way Dante, yes, those are Banana Republic. Thanks for asking big boy :cheesy:

Windy, rainy days like that usually make me reach for my D&G hoodie. :) Marc and Eric, your personal style would "pick up 10-15 yards" so to speak if you could mix in some of Mr. Hardy's creations. Work on that.

When I keep my Hardy money clip in my left pocket, I can't make a full hip turn. When I where the pinkie ring, I slice my tee shots and the thumb ring causes hooks... Hardy jewelery is not good for golf.

 

I did just download the soundtrack from Colors onto my iPod and it's helped my putting rhythm. :)
