^^^^^ 13.7 according to the bottle pictured. I had that at the Bruery taproom. I really enjoyed it and would rate it ahead of the current version and 2015 version of Backwoods. Really impressed with that beer and was my favorite on the public tap list that day.

Thanks, I couldn't make it out on my tiny cell phone screen. It looks and sounds delicious.

That looks good. I need to locate some of that. I've been seeing many more Bruery offerings at the local stores, including Total Wine.

I'm strongly looking at the reserve society membership once I get a car again. I could make 2-4 trips out to the OC a year to pick up my stash. Might even be worth renting a car a couple weekends a year for a quick Sat-Sunday Road trip. Would be worth it just for the one off Anniversary beers for members, BT and Chocolate Rain lol

Its rather funny to me how Canada is suppose to be know for its beer and beer drinkers. Our craft (micro) beers are good but never available. Almost ever person here prefers the taste of a commercial brew (coors, molson, bud, blue Brava). If you go into any bar they most likely have one craft beer on tap if any. The only place that has more than one are beir market and places that are know for the offerings which are very limited at best.

I wish we would support our local breweries more. When I was in cleveland I was shocked at how many craft beers were offered and the varieties. Here we have 5% alcohol and that is about it. Now I dont care about the alcohol content but it does allow for different tastes.

My point is for a country know for its beer we certainly suck at supporting our local breweries and we definitely have no taste buds for good beer but rather a taste for any beer that is good enough (or cheap enough) to get us drunk.

What doesnt help in the province of Ontario were I live is the beer is only sold at The Beer Store which is owned by the 3 major breweries. They don't even run credit accounts for large bars or give quantity discounts for them as well. Our Liquir can only be sold at the LCBO. With all these monopolies when you come to our great province you will find you pay roughly $34 for a 24 of blue and about $26 for a 26'er of reg vodka, gin etc.

We Also cant have any funny names or the governement will shut down the brewery until the name is approved or changed.

Sorry for my rant but just venting on why craft (micro) breweries are dying in Canada.

That being said my favourite beer when I was in Cleveland was Dogfish head IPA

Here it is Creemore springs but I do like flying Monkey's offerings (brewery was shut down until the name was approved)

Depending on where in Ontario you live micro brewerys are popping up everywhere..I live in the Kitchener Waterloo area and there must be at least 5 different brewersclose to my house my favorite being Innocente Brewing Company.. but when I'm in the Toronto area I always go to great lakes or bellwoods. Both amazing!!

Big score today :)

Niiiiiiiice! Where did you score that?!

I drove up to the brewery this morning. When I was there a couple days ago they said they were getting more in Friday and they were opening at 9 am, so I shot over there this morning. It was limit one case per customer, so I brought a coworker so I could get two!

Happy St Patrick's Day, hope none of you are drinking any green Miller Lites anywhere.

Just finished a Maine Beer Co Another One and will probably have a BA stout next or the one Bravo that I have.

Btw had a Habanero Sculpin yesterday and it was undrinkable, way too much heat. Should have put it in some chili or to sauce some wings lol.

BT, and now CR are available to none society members. Most likely going to max on CR and ship to relatives in CA. It is pretty pricey though at $40+tax+shipping per bottle

Yeah but shipping 3+ very expensive 750ml bottles from CA is not worth the added cost. Plus I have now lost 2 separate shipments to UPS Xrays in Tempe. One out going and one incoming. The membership gives me storage time where I could pick them up in person to save that risk and access to other non publicly released beers and different variants of some others.

You mean UPS broke the bottles or confiscated them?

This is solid! And that's before considering it's <$15 a six pack.

High Westy beat out KBS, Sunday Morning, and Hipster Brunch in a blind tasting we did. Very underrated beer. Plus like you mentioned, I bought 2 six packs this year for 11.99. That's just ridiculous for a +12% BA coffee beer. Kudos to Lagunitas!

May have to search for some of this then. I had the Willett aged stout on draft and that was very good too.

Why!

Technically it is not allowed via UPS or any national carrier to ship alcohol. I dont have a definitive answer other than speculation, but I am guessing one of two things or both.

1: They have an xray scanner at the tempe hub and an overzealous by the book person who pulls those boxes (most likely to keep them for themselves)

2: Once my first outgoing box was confiscated My name and/or address is now flagged in their system.

They mark the tracking info as exception and claim damaged in transit. all contents discarded. The problem with this is both boxes each beer was individually enclosed in a ziploc bag so even if there was a bottle/can leak it would not have seeped into the box, they were also wrapped so no clanking of glass to tip anyone off.

This is why I am not a big trader anymore, not worth the risk. When do I ship now, I go small and I use Fed Ex flat rate boxes and ship 1-2 bomber bottles or 3-4 12oz max

Because shipping booze is not allowed you are 100% SOL not only cost of the booze but they wont ever refund shipping costs. My incoming box that was taken had like $200 worth of beer in it too.

USPS

USPS does not allow for the mailing or shipment of alcohol, domestically or internationally.

On top of this, if you are using packaging that was once used to carry alcohol, any and all labeling or branding that shows it could carry alcohol should be covered or else your package can be denied shipment.

UPS

UPS permits the shipment of alcohol; however, they have a few specific requirements:

UPS account number:

You must have an account with UPS.

Alcohol shipping agreement:

UPS allows for the shipment of wine, beer, and other alcoholic beverages on a per-contract basis.

Alcohol shipping license:

All shippers of alcohol must be licensed and authorized to ship according to the applicable federal or state laws and regulations of the origin and destination states.

Destination restrictions:

UPS does not accept shipments of beer or alcohol for delivery to consumers. UPS accepts shipments of beer or alcohol only among and between selected states.

The ability to ship wine depends upon the nature of the shipper's license to sell wine, and the laws of the destination states. Learn more.

Proper packing:

  • Inner packaging of molded Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam, folded corrugated tray, or molded fiber tray.
  • Each packaging component secures the bottles into the center of the shipping container away from the side walls of the shipper.
  • Use of sturdy outer corrugated containers.

Clear labeling:

UPS requires a special label signifying that the package contains alcohol. These can be obtained from UPS. In addition, other labeling may be required by the origin or destination state.

Documented shipment:

You must create your shipping label with a UPS Compatible Shipping Solution such as WorldShip or any approved third-party vendor system, such as ShippingEasy.

Adult signature:

An adult signature is required for the final delivery of the package. It cannot be dropped off at an address unless someone over 21, with proper identification, signs for it.

For all requirements, read UPS' guide to shipping alcohol with UPS.

FedEx

While FedEx permits the shipment of alcohol, unfortunately compliant labels cannot be generated through ShippingEasy. For your reference, here are the specific requirements when generating the label with FedEx:

FedEx account number:

You must have an account with FedEx.

Alcohol shipping agreement:

You need to sign an alcohol shipping agreement with FedEx. This can be completed by contacting your FedEx account manager.

Proper packing:

  • Packaging that ensures your alcoholic shipment is secure.
  • Completely covered in something soft to prevent glass breakage.
  • Can absorb liquid if the bottle happens to break

  • Clear labeling:
  • Fedex requires a special label signifying that the package contains alcohol. These can be obtained from FedEx.

Documented shipment:

You can create your shipping label using a FedEx Ship Manager® electronic shipping. This allows FedEx to readily report wine-shipping activity to state authorities as required.

All wine shipments must be identified by entering "$AW" in the Your Reference field or the Customer Reference field on the shipping solution. If you are generating your label outside of FedEx Ship Manager®, "$AW" must be manually keyed into the Reference field.

Adult signature:

An adult signature is required for the final delivery of the package. It cannot be dropped off at an address unless someone over 21, with proper identification, signs for it.
