Looking for a good men's league in North Dallas

I just moved to the north Dallas area - and can't seem to find a decently run mens' league. Every course I've asked doesn't seem like they are too interested in my request. The league I played in regularly in Utah had regular alternating formats for weekly play. And the corporate league I played in last summer while doing my internship here was a joke.

Are any of you members of a mens league - (preferably a public one) - that is run well and has a good group of guys that show up consistently? My cousin and I are looking to join one and meet some new people on the course.

We are in the Plano/Richardson area and are willing to make a small commute for something worthwhile.

Check out the Golf Channel Am Tour...It's pretty active around here, kinda pricey. You aren't going to find much that sticks exclusively to your neck of the Metroplex, there's too many good courses that aren't in that area for the tours. Also look at the I-Tour for the Dallas area.

I'm pretty sure Pecan Hollow in Plano has a Men's League. I've seen a pretty large group waiting to tee off in the afternoons during the summer months.

Did you ever find one worthwhile? Recently moved back to Addison, and lookin for a group to play with... Preferably weekends, but Friday afternoons are open too.

Hate to revive an old thread, but interested to see if others here ever found anything? I'm in the Richardson area myself, played high school golf but took a long hiatus starting in college. Getting back into the game now and miss semi-competitive play.

Just saw this thread, so sorry for the people who posted 2-4 years ago...

I used to play in the Firewheel Golf Association (FGA) men's league at Firewheel Golf Club. The group probably skews towards the older side, but there were a decent amount of 30-40 year old guys and a handful of 20-30 year old guy. They have at least one event/month and during the more popular months they have 2 events/month. The mix of tourneys is pretty awesome between individual stroke play and team stuff.

The mix of guys is really good and I like the way that all the tournaments were run. They set if up flights by handicap and you play the guys within your flight straight up. Handicaps are based on the tournaments that you play as part of the FGA so there is not much sandbagging. They also keep a running points total throughout the year and the top 20 guys in the rankings get to participate in a Ryder Cup style event at the end of year.

I lived in Richardson back in the 90's, and agree. Firewheel had a great golf association. First class...

I know several folks that drive from McKinney to play Stone River (Royse City). They have a Tuesday Men’s League and a Thursday night random draw 2-man scramble. They run both events every Spring, Summer and Fall.
