Mercedes AMG Formula One line of equipment

Wedges look good. But the overall idea of buying Mercedes AMG F1 branded clubs (that are probably manufactured by TM, Nike, etc...) seems really weird to me. Why would anyone pay a premium (these won't be cheap) to look like a tool out on the course?

I'm a huge Formula One fan so I see the parallel between these clubs and the F1 cars. They are silver and black with the bold red numbers in a white circle. 7 is the number of the great Michael Schumacher this year so it's obviously a big play for them.

 

 

Not sure how well these will do in the golf market. I'm sure they will be appealing to some people.

It'd be fascinating to see what Mercedes engineers came up with if they were re-tasked to making clubs.

But "have a license" = we paid Mercedes to put their name on clubs and they had nothing at all to do with the engineering. I'll pass.

That's just odd. I would have assumed MB/AMG would be too proud to whore out their brand for something as completely unrelated as golf clubs. I was wrong.

Clubs look decent, just seems so needless to use that brand. Now where did I put my Mont Blanc ball-getter and Tag Heuer ball mark fixer...

Not manufactured by MB. They're licensed to WSH, who make all kinds of crap stuff. They paid MB a boat load of money to put their name on it. MY opinion, they (MB) should have demanded 10x as much as whatever the amount was.

Personally, I would have never imagined something like this from anyone associated with Mercedes Benz and AMG (even if just a licensee).

the irons don't look too bad...but I wonder how serious are they about this? or is this just a marketing ploy to sell more cars and F1 tickets.

There is NO WAY - I'd buy MBZ anything golf equipment. All they are playing on is their AMG's high end name, and the weaknesses of golf ho's that want... Being a P-car guy, it reminds me of Porsche golf equipment and some other items they market; all of which is way over priced, and of no real golf value.

Interesting.... don't post much here but would just like to point out that Mercedes Benz/ AMG have as little to do with their F1 team as they do with their golf equipment.


A whole bunch of money makes its way from Stuttgart to Brackley, Northamptonshire UK, where a whole bunch of employees & engineers design and build the chassis of the car, this team of employees used to form Brawn GP, and Honda racing before that.
Following this they strap in a engine provided by Mercedes High Performance engines, again designed and built in Brixworth,Northamptonshire UK. This engine production company was previously called Illmor until being bought by Mercedes in 2005 and had been providing engines for Mercedes Benz to rebadge prior to then.

My point is golf and F1 are two global sports targeted by the Mercedes Benz brand, anyone familiar with a either of these sports will recognize that Mercedes don't produce golf equipment, or F1 cars directly. But the two sports are a useful way of promoting the MB brand and 'lifestyle', as such I doubt that this line of equipment will be anything more than a one off that only avid fans of the brand will buy.
