TM Mid Resues are offset?! Dangit, no wonder my misses would be a hook from hell, esp when I swing full out. My normal traj (nod to El Tigre) is a slight draw.

I've gamed the 3 and 4 since 2004, the covers look like it's been from Afghanistan and back, leaving the clubheads in surprisingly good shape. Never been tempted to look at another rescue.

Any suggestions for 'non-offset' rescue models that will play like these? I'm such a do-do bird, never noticed the offset....

I game a 19 and a 25 with the graphite shaft. Had to talk my brother into buying 2 out a $50 dollar bin at golf galaxy one day. Made a dramatic change in his game, so I 'charged' him $50 ever time he hit one well. When we quit that game it was in the thousands.

For all who have reshafted these, what is the tip size of the TP? I want to find a TP 3 to go with my 2 and try to find the same shaft for it.

The Rescue-Mid 'TP' that came with GRAPHITE stock shaft is .335 tip Vista Pro 90 with TM/TP graphics.. Those that came with STEEL stock shaft are .355 taper tip.

I have a 4 and a 5 steel shafted Rescue Mid sitting in a bag unused. One I got used with a Dynamic golf stiff shaft and one I bought new with a stock steel shaft. Both were hook machines for me so they didn't stay in my bag long. Seems like there is some love for the clubs though; may have to put them in the BST forum.

I'm currently pondering how to combine my 3/4 Mids into a single hybrid so I can fix my wedge gaps. Right now they are 19 and 24 I believe would a 21 be a good difference? For those that have replaced the Mids with something newer, has anyone found a club that translated well in terms of look and feel? I would assume would get better just by advances in technology. I've been eying the Nike VRS but haven't been able to hit it yet.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with an appreciation for TaylorMade's orignal Rescue-Mids.

I particularly love the RESCUE-MID TP's and I don't think there are better Hybrids to be had out there, even now for better players. The heads are so solid and TM's stock graphite shaft was the Fujikura Vista Pro 90 which is still as goods as it gets! There was a good variety of lofts in this older series, far better than in TM's newer offerings.

These are the specs of my own Rescue-Mid TP's:

- 14* Rescue-Mid TP #2 (42" VP-90 shaft)
- 16* Rescue-Mid TP #2 (41.5" VP-90 shaft)
- 19* Rescue-Mid TP #3 (41" VP-90 shaft)
- 22* Rescue-Mid TP #4 (40.5" VP-90, tipped 1/2")

I also own the rather "RARE" RESCUE FAIRWAY WOODS which I acquired with TM's Lite Metal 2 stock Steel shaft, (95 grams). I immediately reshafted these with the Fuji VP-90 shaft and added a bit of shaft length. The VP-90 shaft turns these into true "beasts" for distance and yet these remain exceptionally easy to hit from almost any lie. These Rescue Fairway Woods were largely overlooked because TM's V-Steels were so popular at the time of their introduction, but the Rescue Fairway Woods are much easier to hit than the V-Steels. Furthermore, the Rescue Fairways have the same super-solid feel and sound as their Rescue-Mid Hybrids cousins. (None of that "ting" sound that you get with the V-Steels). The stocks shafts in the Rescue Fairways were pretty poor which didn't help their popularity, but with a premium shaft like the VP-90, these are truly awesome Fairway Woods!

Here are the specs of my Rescue Fairway Woods:

- 15* Rescue Fairway "3-Strong" (42.5" VP-90, tippped 1/4")
- 17* Rescue Fairway "3-wood" (42" VP-90, tipped 1/2")
- 20* Rescue Fairway "5-wood" (41.5" VP-90 tipped 3/4")

Note: A 23* Rescue Fairway 7-Wood was available, but I found that for my swing speed, I needed to tip a VP-90 a full inch to get an acceptable spin rate and trajectory with that one. That much tipping of a Fuji VP-90 with a clublength of 41" led to a club that didn't feel right to me, so the 7-wood loft was not for me. It is best suited to someone with a slower swing speed who needs a high spin rate and trajectory. (Little or no tipping would be required for someone in that category).

The original Rescue-Mid TP's and the the Rescue Fairways are among my favorite clubs of all-time and definitely some of the finest clubheads that TM ever made!

BobCat

I read your post about the TM Rescue Fairways with interest. I had the standard 3 and 5 woods when I first started out golfing and were the easiest to hit FW I've had - always regret selling them.

I've tried to source a 3 Strong version in the UK with no luck. Do you know any on-line US retailers who could sell me one? Would like to go for the heavier head weight version but I would take any version to be honest - I could get a re-shaft prior to shipping or will re-shaft in UK.

How would a prolaunch red work in that head?

Thanks
Steve

Add another to the Rescue Mid bandwagon. Bought a 2FW (14*) from a friend of mine a few years ago (he couldn't hit it) and have used it as a 3 wood replacement. The thing is a fairway finder. Last week I went into a small used golf ball store and they also have some used clubs as well and sitting in there was this little 19* 3 Rescue Mid with the Tour Preferred steel shaft and a Golf Pride midsize grip for $35.00. I bought it and took it to the course saturday morning. First swing on the club was on a short par 4 (340 yards) and put it about 220 yards down the left side. The next time was a 208 yard par 3 slightly up hill, put it 10 feet left pin high (missed the putt). I love this thing so much I bought a 4 (22*) off of Ebay this morning.

Hi Bobcat
I have TaylorMade Rescue MID hybrids 2/16*, 3/19*, and 4/22* and like them a lot. I'm thinking about putting a 14* TM TP in my bag - I'm a 10-12 handicap. You seem to be the person with the best knowledge and experience to ask these questions:
• Is there a difference in the head design of the TP clubs or is it in the shaft?
• If the TP clubs had the same shafts as the regular MIDs would there be a noticeable difference in using the TP clubs?
Regards
Rover

The TP's are different in many ways even though it is not that obvious to the eye.

- The heads are weighted differently, (higher COG in the TP's), for a more penetrating pro-like trajectory.

- The face angle of the TP's is virtually square, (the face of the standard Rescue-Mids is slightly closed).

- The graphite shafts in the TP's are Fujikura Vista Pro 90's, (90 grams), far heavier than 67 gram RM ultralite shaft.

- The hosel bore size is different as well: .335 bore in the graphite TP's, while the std graphite Mids have a .370 bore size.

If both heads had the same shaft, a better player would most likely notice the difference immediately. The higher handicapper might not realize the difference so quickly because their swings are not so finely tuned. (Is it the indian or the arrow?). The higher handicapper would need some time to figure that out).

A player who tends to slice/fade might be better off with the standard version of the Rescue-Mid because it has more of a draw bias and a weaker shaft.

Hope that answers your question!

Have a TP19 that was in the bag a long time. Dropped it to get a higher flight.
I liked the club, but hit too low for the situations I wanted to use it.

However - on a really windy day, it will likely be in the bag.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I just came across this. I'm gaming the mid 22* 4 with stock S reax 65 shaft. It seems like this is a lot lighter than what other people say they are using. Anyways I came across the same club 22* with a no name iron shaft. Is there any reason to pick up the iron version?

So mainly this discussion comes down to shafts and what the differences are. I mainly thought graphite gives you more customization by making a higher launching club for what is attached to the head. What would an iron shaft do for me? It's my understanding I would need to pick up that iron version for the hosel bore size. Also what would a heavier graphite shaft due for me? My main concern is the big hooks when I get on it with the light shaft, which also appears to be an issue for other people. Other than that it hits a great straight shot for those 200 yard shots nice and high from the tee or off the deck, which is perfect for my bag since I'm also sporting a TM 3 driving iron.

Yep. It is absolutely beat to shiat. I love that thing. 19* Rescue Mid, non tp version with stock stiff graphite shaft. I don't know for sure but I think its been in the bag for at least 12 or 13 years...maybe more. Can turn it either way on command, it sticks when it needs to, and can control it anywhere from 175 to 220 when I feel the need. I've tried to replace it, but haven't found anything I like better.

I also many times, depending on course or wind, also carry the old Rescue Dual in 14* with a S300 in it. I am not a crazy long hitter by any means, but I can't tell you how many times I have hit huge low runners with that club that people will ask me what I just hit that shot with as it didn't seem possible to get there.
