Freedom qualtiy picutres really like those grips aswell once there on the irons,i would of gone for the black ones but they look nice aswell,must resist buying a set of ping S series irons

Why did you not match the shafts on the wedges to the irons, I always order the same shafts and grips and wonder why people dont?

I'm just as excited to be getting my i20's tomorrow as the rest of you guys, but frankly the hype is a bit overdone. Irons don't change THAT much. I can already imagine the threads next year titled, "Anyone still gaming the i20's?". Realisitically the best we can expect is that the i20's fit our swings well. They can't lower your scores by themselves.

I don't know , these are going to be popular for a long time. It's the best "i" series iron ping has ever released. IMO its hard to find a mixture of forgiveness but players looks and profile and ping has done it with these.

I've never matched my wedge shafts to what I was playing in my irons. Never felt the need to do so or felt that it would make that much of a difference.

True....but it's fun getting new stuff at any age. It's like telling a kid on Christmas Eve...you know that new toy isn't going to be any more entertaining than the stuff you already have. And next year you're going to be asking for a while new list of stuff.....

As I've said before this applies to almost any hobby. New fishing equipment doesn't make you a better fisherman, new cameras don't make you a better photographer...a new guitar doesn't make you a better musician. I think everybody knows that deep down inside.....but enjoying new equipment is part of the fun of the game.

PING has the strictest pricing policy in the industry because they are one of the few that actually enforce it. They have an "Orange and Blue" price list. Which dictates what a retailer can "advertise" at, and the other dictates what they can sell at. Each vendor "can" sell at what ever price they want. But, if they get caught by PING selling at anything lower than the Orange/Blue prices they can/will have their accounts suspended. I know this from personal experience.

Official sales date is February 9, 2012.. Got mine today and as covered in the other thread they are shelved until the summer when I will give them one more shot.... No where near the S56s in feel, performance, looks.... Soles too wide, ball goes too high. The wedges are the most disappointing thing about the set---particularly when compared to the Tour S and Anser Wedges.. Hit 5 buckets of balls today and played 9 holes. Had my S56s along as well which were night and day a better set from top to bottom... One day is not much of a trial but I don't like the look at address (too much i15 and Anser like) but really don't care for the performance when compared with the S56s....Don't care for the offset in the long irons---much prefer the S56 look.

It is quite possible that they might benefit from getting a bounce grind done....

Got my I20's today. 4 through PW. CFS x stiff standard length and black dot. Stock Id8 grips. Bent a 1/4 strong to help lower my flight a bit. Had to work and go to class, so couldn't test them yet. I will be hitting the range tomorrow after work though.


Let me say that I know that these clubs are not magical, but for the guy who loves irons that are way beyond their game this set finally gives me hope. I have always been attracted to players clubs, but as a 23 handicap had no business playing them. I always knew a game improvement club was right for me. The new Razr Tour and Ping I20 are two forgiving designs that I can actually stand to look at. So, I start my goal to be a 15 by years end and single digits the following. I think Ping will be a perfect tool to work towards this goal
