New shafts in my Cally X22 Tours

Something lighter than Project X 6.0
Hi. I have a set of X22 Tour irons that I really like. Best irons I have ever owned, actually. I think a lot of the credit goes to the Project X Flighted 6.0 shafts that came with them. However, I'm considering going with something a little lighter (6.0's are 125 grams each).

One of the local pros recommended KBS Tour 90's. Anyone have experience with them? I'm hesitant to change something that works well but I have heard good things about KBS.

Thanks for your help...

I don't know if I'd change shafts if your irons are treating you that well. On the other hand, you're not gonna know unless you try. Having said that, I have KBS Tours in my MP-59's and I think they're awesome! I really wanted to order them with the Project X's, but the feel was so different and the numbers don't lie. I'm curious to try the new PXi's, though. Supposed to be a lot lighter.

Here's a thought...could you buy 1 X-22 Tour club and have a KBS Tour shaft put in it? Or find one that already has that shaft in it...probably less expensive and WAY less irritating than re-shafting all your irons only to discover that you hate the new shaft. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice. It may be a good idea just to try one club to check the ball flight, feel, etc.

there's a 6 iron with KBS tour in stiff on Cally Preowned for $55. You may be able to find a coupon code to drop the price a bit too.

Be sure you pay attention to what KBS shaft is in a club that you purchase to try. You are talking about the 90 gram shaft replacing your 125 gram shaft. I'm thinking (pbass6811) is not playing the 90 gram shaft in his Mizuno's. There is a BIG difference between the two shafts.

Plus, KBS has different weights for different size hosel's. I believe your X-22's have a .370 hosel. The KBS Tour shaft will weigh in at 130 grams. If your hosel happens to be .355, the shaft weight is 120 grams. SOOO.....Just be sure you are compairing apples to apples when looking at the KBS offeringsshafts.

My 2 cents.....If you like the PX Shafts, why not reshaft with PX 5.0 Flighted, and hard step the once. The feel will be similar to your 6.0's, but be 110 grams instead of 130.

If you like the PX flighted do not go to the KBS Tour 90. They are firs of all 35g lighter, that's too big a jump. Not to mention, they are far higher launch and spin, designed for early release and a slow ss. You will hate your short irons with those in them. Try PXi, but build your own flighted set as such. 2,3,4 buy 5.5. 5,6,7, buy 6.0. 8,9,pw, buy 6.5. That is really the only conceivable option that would work well. Not sure what grips you have on the irons but if you find a grip that is more like 45g (NDMC) you'll shave like 5-10 extra grams off. I think the Winn Lites or GP tour 25 would be too light.
