Well guys I am leaving Houston for the Great White North and Corsicana. This is a historic day for the Houston group. In a lot of ways I am the heart and soul of this group. I did help get us kicked off another site (one of my prouder moments) and Keith expresses his jealousy that you South Side guys invite me to play.

But alas I needed to get a job so I have some money. I must admit that it was tempting to see the outcome of the November elections. Afterall if the Democrats retake both Houses I can live on welfare for years.

On the bright side Corsicana could prove a good spot for a Houston/Dallas Ryder Cup. I also refuse to play for Dallas unless they pay me more than you guys can. You guys have a standing invitation to come play an old Tillinghast design whenever you want though.

I also need to specially thank Glynn, Tony, and Gerald for helping me on the job hunt.


At some point this week or weekend we need to get in a final round for a while atleast.

I forgot to add that I need to fund this move (that and I they do have a "Club" in Corsicana, so all my clubs are for sale. I am willing to give them to you guys at very reasonable prices!

Congrats on the new job. My parents and brother lived there for a short time in the late 90s. The only thing I remember about the town is that the saying "from the wrong side of the tracks" might just have been coined in Corsicana. Don't know which side of the tracks is the "correct" side to live on (N, S, E, or W) but it will be very obvious. That, and we had to drive 30 minutes to find the closest liquor store :drinks:. My brother lived in the apartments right by the HS, and they were nice enough for the surroundings.

 

What course will you be working at? The "C.C." there in town? There is a nice course close to Corsicana that is on the west side of I-45 called the Old Brickyard that looks to be similar to Wildcat. Haven't played it, but I've heard good things.

You are a true gentleman of the game and the H-Town group is in mourning with this news.

 

While we wish you much success in your new endeavors, you will be missed.

 

It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to a great person and kindred spirit of the game.

 

My home is always open for a return outing with the group and we hope that once you get settled, you will return for visits.

It's not like you still can't make the outings!! That's probably the only time we all get to see each other anyways!!

Garden Valley is in Lindale which I think is between Dallas and Tyler. That is the backwoods (where my people come from). I'll be at Corsicana CC (cue Jim Nantz and The Masters music) a quaint and scenic Tillinghast design tucked away in the hills of North Texas.

The first few weeks I will be staying with friends until my apartment is ready, so I am hoping to have everything set 100% by the time I come home for Thanksgiving. We have the normal fair, Holiday Inn Express that kind of thing but heck we are only 50 minutes from downtown Dallas and all it's wonderment.

Congratulations Sam on your new job. I always envy the Houston guys. You have a tight-knit group that has a lot of fun and plays a lot of golf. It doesn't get much better than that.
