ALL THINGS INDIANA GOLF

I've reserved the time, 12:20 on 10/31. It's a prepaid hot deal, $14 each. Paul, let us know if you can't make it, I'm sure we can find another if needed.

Hope it warms up!

Thanks for setting this up. Looks like a sunny, 48 deg day on tap. We're on borrowed time so I'll take it!

If anyone's lurking, we need a fourth!

We have 4 if marmooskapaul and HoosierHacker can make it. HH texted me and said he may have a conflict though.

Also, anyone been to Top Golf in Fishers' yet?

Appears packed when I go by no matter the time of day.

Been twice now. Went the night it opened with my wife, and with 3 guys from here on Thursday when we couldn't get on Stony Creek due to frost. It's a lot of fun. But don't go for practice, go with a group and just relax and BS while playing the games. I've been to other ones before around the country and even people who do not play golf enjoy it, and there are clubs there (look like old Callaway Big Berthas) for them to use or you can bring your own. The only downside, be prepared to drop some coin. The price is the same per hour if you have 1-6 people, and it's cheaper in the morning than in prime time. $25/hr in the morning, $35/hr mid-day, $45/hr after like 4 PM. The food is really good too.

Have fun to everyone playing Tuesday.

I went to TopGolf Wednesday night for dinner. Arrived about 6 PM and put our name on the list for a bay. Took about 2 hours but we ended up playing for 90 minutes. Definitely go for a social outing and not to practice. Variety of games are fun and good for different skill sets. We went for date night and the ladies had a blast and they do not golf.

Good food. Great concept for a social gathering.

I have been to 3 now and this is the only one where I have had to wait, but I am sure that will change once the initial hype wears off.

Had a lot of fun today! Great to meet new, fun players even when it's freezing and I played horribly on the front. One of these days I will have my 'A' game at that course.

Got 2 open slots at Bear Slide Thursday at 9 AM (weather permitting). If anyone is interested, let me know ASAP.

Also thinking of doing Stony Creek in Noblesville next Tuesday (11/7) around 1:45 if anyone is interested in that as well.

Thanks, Doc, I hafta pass this time BUT keep us in the loop. Marmooska can apparently still swing a club in his seal skin parka so his season never ends!

GREAT meeting you guys and I look forward to doing it again.

Friday should be a very nice day to play golf... but I have a meeting in Indy. Thanks for asking though!

Ever been to French Lick? It's a really neat area.

Beautiful day today at Meshingomesia in Marion. Everything's still so lush and green. We're on borrowed time my friends!

If anyone is ever around the bedford area, recommend giving Otis Park a try. Country Oaks in Montgomery is also a nice course.

Once a month I travel to Spring Mill State Park, where I lead a class. The weather has been garbage every time I've gone so far, but if it holds up in the winter I will check these out if they are open. Thanks!

Played Morris Park in SB yesterday with an older set of guys. Man, do they ever give each other the business - vicious!

One guy in our 8some carried a battery powered leaf blower in his cart which sure came in handy.

Lost my Word not allowed but a fun afternoon in the December sun.

Hi there. Seattle native here.... I’m more than likely relocating to Carmel next Summer so naturally my first thought is... where are the good courses at?!

I play to a 1 and am looking for a challenging course with a solid men’s club and reasonable membership rates.

Any insight from anyone would be fantastic!

Some questions I do have is -

What is the typical golf season like in Indiana?

How many months do you get to play? When do they aerate courses?

How would you characterize summer conditions of courses in the Indianapolis area?

Anything else that makes Indiana golf unique?

Luckily for us Northwesterners, if you can deal with a little cold and rain then we can play all year around. I don’t mind the elements at all and typically will play as long as there isn’t puddles on greens or snow out.
