Title says it all. How long is your driver and why do you prefer that length. I have a 45.5 inch Mizuno JPX 800 and I am considering cutting 1/2 inch to possibly even one inch off for more consistent contact.

44 1/2 Adams F12 LS Attas 3. Because hitting it flush is fun. If the best ball strikers in the world don't play drivers over 45", why would I (7hdcp)?

the driver i've been using is just under 45" and the one i just got is 46". should be interesting to see how it plays. i know it's only about an inch difference, but even looking down at it at address it looks so long to me for some reason. we'll see.

TM 2.0 SF = 44.5 in from TM factory, a R11 stock, the Blur 60 S - looking to Re-Shaft that baby! Feels to light & wimpy!

TEE XCG-3 from TEE factory with a "real" Voodoo SVS 6 = 44 in.
Good feel, my WTF is 34.5 in, I am 5'10", & every club fit chart chiseled out in the web says I should be fine with normal length & lies. My irons, no issues - same with stock FWs & Hybrids. But damn them drivers - always is my sucko club on the course!

When shortening you need to think about effects on flex / swingweight and feel. You have a choice to butt or tip trim or both which will have different effects on flex. Butt trim is obviously simpler. You add weight to restore swingweight and flex. I've butt trimmed in the past with resulting improved contact but felt like the shaft lost some pop in the process. Anyway, something to think about.

44 3/4" is the longest I will go and I'm 6' 4". I never go longer and often will go shorter, 44 1/4" or 44 1/2".

Swingweight is always set to D4 and usually tip trim pretty heavily to offset the extra weight in the head for the D4 swingweight. Remember heavier the shaft the higher the swingweight. So using a heavier shaft is a great way to offset the loss in swingweight when using a shorter length plus you don't end up with a bunch of weight added to the head. It's a bit more art then science figuring out the correct head weight, shaft weight, tip trimming and length you prefer.

Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson are arguably two of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour and they both play 44 1/2" and are 6' 4" and 6' 3" respectively.

Intersting how everyone seems to like the shorter clubs....but does .5 matter that much? I have always used 45 and gripped it as close to the tip as possible, only sucks on a bad shot, I have started choking down more so and have definitely improved, guess I need to join the club.

44'', regular flex prolaunch blue K15

I am 5'6'' tall, I figure if bubba watson plays a 44'' driver I have no business playing anything over that. Since going to 44'' My accuracy has improved HEAPS, and I lost no distance. Swing speed remained 96-97 mph, and total distance is 265-270 with 2600 RPM spin. Optimal numbers right now with my set up, and I am thrilled.
