Military Discounts

The Bandon discount thread got me thinking about discounts offered at different courses. Many courses near bases offer discounts that are posted on their websites but there are many courses that do not publish their discounts. I always feel weird if I'm going on vacation and ask the course when booking if they offer discounts for military.

 

Hope this question doesn't offend anyone. If you are upset about the discounts you can always join up but I assure you golf discounts should not be your motivation for entering military service (even the AF - which I'm a member of).

 

 

Here are some discounts I've seen/used

 

Bandon OR - Bandon Dunes: Discounted golf

 

Maui - Kapalua: Discounted golf

 

Miami FL - Doral: Discounted golf on a few of their courses at twilight

 

Pinehurst NC - Pinehurst CC: Someone said 75% off the hotel and the course also has a military day where they offer free golf on one of the course (last year it was on #8) and discounted spa/shopping.

 

Eglin FL area - Bluewater Bay, Shalimar Pointe: Discounted golf, membership fees and initiation fees

 

Dayton OH - NCR CC: Waived initiation fee

 

Orlando FL - Disney Courses: Discounted golf

 

Monterey CA area - Laguna Seca, Bayonet/Blackhorse, Poppy Hills and Pacific Grove: Discounted golf

 

Auburn CA (Sac area) - Darkhorse Golf: Discounted golf

 

SF CA - Presidio Golf: Nor Cal golf rate for all military

 

Napa CA - Chardonnay Golf: Discounted golf

 

LA CA - Lost Canyons: Discounted golf

 

 

 

Some non course related discounts but golf related:

 

Ping offers discounts on clubs

 

Many (if not most) PGA events offer discounts or free tickets for military

My home course offers a military discount, but if you're ever in my area you won't need it, your greens fee is on me.

I always ask, just played Kapalua for 85$ vs 185$ the hotel was going to "arrange" for me. Thats some serious chedda and God bless em for looking out for us!

woodforest golf course in montgomery, tx offers six free rounds a year for active duty.

amazing golf course and even better staff.

Kiawah- Ocean Course is $85, i felt like I robbed them until the wind robbed me out of 50 yards. Class act, top notch service.

Kiawah's ocean course is $80, Harbour Town is 150, Pinehurst gives 20% and Tpc Sawgrass is 150. I just moved to SC last fall. Loving life while the army keeps me here

When I worked in a pro shop we would give active military the senior rate and half price on Veterans Day weekend. It only seemed right.

Most of the courses around Vegas will give you the NV state resident rate when you show a military ID.

Always confused about the actual definition. Active, retired, veteran, are all different and courses have to be specific on their websites.
