Did Ping ever make their Zing 2 irons in BeCu?

I know they made a BeCu wedge set, but did they ever make a full set?
Know Ping manufacturered the Eye 2, Eye 2 +, Zing, & ISI in BeCu, but what about the Zing 2? I know they made a wedge set that consisted of 4 or 5 wedges in copper, but what about a full set? Anyone know?

Wanted to pick up an inexpensive set to fool around with, but only saw stainless steal on "the bay". Hate to wait for a BeCu set to be listed if they never made one. :)

After a lot of looking around, I'm convinced that they did not make the Zing 2's in BeCu. Surprisingly, Pings website was no help. I checked PGA Value Guide. They give BeCu as an option on the Eye 2's, the Eye 2+'s, Zing's, & ISI's, but not in the Zing 2's. However, under wedges, they do list a set of BeCu Zing 2 wedges that consisted of W1, W2, S1, & S2. Basically pitching, gap, sand, & lob from what I can tell. So, that's what I think. Not 100%, but......

I can't confirm it either and there's certainly nothing on the internet about a Ping Zing 2 BeCu model but this was posted on GolfLink (doesn't mean it's true though):

Reviews of Ping Zing 2 Irons
By Jim Hagerty

Specs
Introduced in 1994, the now discontinued Ping Zing 2 irons succeeded Karsten Manufacturing's Ping Zing series. Considered a mid-sized iron, Zing 2s are still popular today and regarded as some of the best irons ever made. The clubs are cavity-back stainless steel, slightly toe-weighted with an anti-drag sole. Most clubs were stocked with Ping JZ steel or Ping 350 graphite shafts (regular through extra stiff). Zing 2s were available with 10 custom lie angles and player height fittings (Ping's color "dotting" system). Ping also made a Zing 2 beryllium copper model.

I thought ZING2 wedges were labled "W," "S," "LS," and "L." I'm pretty sure it's the ISI wedges which were labled "W," W2," "S," "S2," "S3," and "L."

I believe you're correct. I recalled them making becu Zing 2 wedges from 47* to 61*, not 100% sure on exact lofts. No becu Zing 2 irons or I would've had them back then. I think I might have owned every model of Ping becu irons.

Zing 2 irons are the one that I probably remember too well because I had a set of Zing 2 irons and becu Zing 2 wedges swiped in England, they weren't available there at that time so that clubhouse's thief knew what it was.

No they didn't. There were serious health issues surrounding Beryllium dust so everyone stopped making BeCu heads 'til a safer alloy was developed. It wasn't as soft and never gained the popularity of the original heads. My friend had a set of BeCu Zings and boy were they heavy in the head. I had a 2 iron and when you flushed it the distances were silly.
With modern CNC milling I imagine Ping could return to a BeCu head. I think their would be a real demand as long they kept the prices lower than the obscenely expensive Anser heads.

Ping only made the Eye2, ISI and original Ping Zing iron sets in copper not the Ping Zing 2s.

They did, however, make special ISI and Ping Zing 2 wedge sets in copper. There were 6 wedges in the copper ISI and copper Ping Zing 2 wedge sets - PW, W2, SW, S2, S3 & LW.

I know for sure as I have four complete Ping Zing iron/PingZing 2 wedge sets in copper (four 1iron - LW Ping Zing copper iron sets and four PW - LW Ping Zing 2 copper wedge sets**) --> a gamer set that never leaves mother earth :-), an air travel set, a set that I keep at Mom's house and a set that I keep at Dad's house).

** - yeah I usually disregard the hopelessly outdated 14 club limit 'rule' in 'recreational' play :-)

The Ping Zing 2 Copper Wedge Lofts are as follows:
PW - 47.0°
W2 - 49.5°
SW - 52.0°
S2 - 54.5°
S3 - 57.0°
LW - 61.0°

The original Ping Zing Copper Iron Lofts are as follows:
1 - 15.5°
2 - 18.0°
3 - 20.5°
4 - 24.0°
5 - 27.0°
6 - 30.5°
7 - 34.0°
8 - 38.5°
9 - 42.5°
PW - 47.0°
SW - 52.0°
LW - 57.0°

I played Eye 2s until I tried Zing 2s and was amazed at the distance difference (lofts/shaft length). I traded the Zing 2s in on a new set of MP 30s to lose the offset and hit a forged iron. They were/are great but after some orthopedic surgery I needed more forgiveness so I bought another set of Zing 2s - cheap because there was no pw. For a long while I had a BECU Zing 2 sw so I found a BECU pw. I absolutely love these wedges for their feel and dependability. I may try a set of i25s but will continue to use these wedges. They are versatile and can be high fliers or low runners. I will never give them up and do wish that Ping had gone one more model with BECU.
