Change to speeder 757 stiff?

Hi

This is my 1st post. ;)

I am playing TM r7 quad with stock stiff shaft. My swing speed is only 95mph. I know I can't swing fast enough to play with stiff shaft, but I like to play little stiff and heavy shaft.

I heard a buzz about speeder 757. Here is my question. Will stiff 757 work for my swing?

Waiting for inputs from guru.

In my bag

You may like the Speeder 757.....BUT!!.....I'd get it in Regular if I were you, the Regular will handle swing speeds up to 105 mph. I suggest you leave the Speeder 757 Regular 1/2" long, that way if you prefer a firmer flex, you have room to tip trim 1/2". Other shafts you might try are the Speeder 660 TR or the Speeder 771 TA, keep your eyes open for pullouts of these two. :D

The Stock R7 shaft is horrid. The 757 is great and (in my experience) a perfect match for the head.

As for flex, it is hard to say. I had an X in my R7 which shuld have been way too much for me, but I hit some of my longest drives ever with it.

That said, I'd still agree with the poster above and go for the regular, especially if you have any tendency to push the ball right.

The 660TR is also a fab shaft for the R7.

Fantastic shaft. They are very stout-feeling though.. At 95mph I would lean more towards a R flex than a stiff. I love mine, in my 3-wood. I play an X-flex 757 as I like a stiff -feeling shaft in all my clubs. Suits me perfectly with my swing speed (around 115mph)

I would recommend you try to have a trial with one before buying (as with any club or shaft) as it'll be an expensive goof if you don't like it!

Excellent shafts though. Fantastic at getting a penetrating trajectory if that's what you're after.

Go with a R-Flex 757 but ensure you tip it 1/2" prior to insertion for ANY TaylorMade Driver. If not tipped 1/2" the 757 will NOT play true to its flex in a TM driver due to TM's very shallow (1.25") bore depth.

For OEM drivers featuring bore depths of 1.75" or greater, there is no need to tip the 757 shaft. It will play true to flex in these deeper bore depths.

    • Sony Open Pics from January 11, 2022 Part 1
I was able to get out to the Sony Open today to take a few pics.  I guess due to Covid precautions they kept the spectators pretty far from the players.  Also due to camera restrictions they've put in place, I wasn't able to bring the big lens like I normally do. Hopefully they'll ease up on the ropes and I'll be able to get more pics tomorrow!
