What club do you use for the 175 yard shot?

Currently rethinking my hybrids and long irons. Irons are short and hybrids are too long.

 

I need an accurate club for the 175 yard shot...

Smooth 4i for me. Would be out of my 5i range.

I play AP2 710's

This. Do tend to prefer a smooth swing over a hard one, though.

yeah, hard 6 or easy 5 for me too, probably an easy 5 unless there is danger on the back side...I don't usually do so well trying to muscle an iron farther than my standard distances.

A good, full swing at a Callaway RAZR X hybrid, the 21-degree 3h. I can hit it as far as 180 sometimes but generally 170-175 is comfortable. Very high trajectory and, by my standards, fairly straight and on-line.

In the other set of clubs that does not have hybrids that would an 18-degree fairway wood (Titleist 906F2) choked down a bit. That's my 180 or a little longer club. Next club below that is a 3-iron that surely won't [u]carry[/u] 175 but I can use it on a 175 shot if it can roll the last 10 yards.

depends on where pin is and conditions, but it's either go at it with a 6i or a nice, smooth 5i. I'd usually opt for the 5i if there was no risk of being too deep.

6 iron or 5 iron for me. My 6 iron in normal conditions is usually 155 meters, so 170ish yards. Five iron should be somewhere around 182ish, so it's right in between those two.

Do these threads get started by totally-bored marketing analysts? OK kidding aside, pw to 3 wood depending on conditions. I live at altitude and that would be a nice 7 iron on a calm warm day.Go find a nice field on a calm day and hit numerous balls with your irons and some demo hybrids, (that hopefully your golf shop will tape up for your demo). Get exact yardages and work from there on club choices.Many of today's hybrids have long sjafts and you may end up with something weird to get the right gaps like a 27* 5 iron and a 27* hybrid that is 1" longer shaft to gain an optimal gap.

6 iron to a front or middle flag.. 7 iron to a back flag..

Who plays "stock" golf?? I use 5 or 6 iron, but conditions might warrant 7 or 4 iron. I have two yardages per club; easy & hard. Heck, certain conditions have me using 2 or 3 iron for 125 +/- yards. Point is every golfer should have "[b]distance control[/b]" with all his clubs. Good scores are not the result of one shot style or distance per club.
