This was shown on Sky Sports yesterday. Really surprised to hear that his driver length is 1/2 inch LONGER than standard. Most unusual.

His driving iron... 503i?

I was disappointed that he didn't talk about his 906F2, as that is the true beast in his bag.

Sorry lazyjc4, what are you talking about?
At a guess I would say he's talking about religion, politics and background. IE: The fact that he's plays under the Northern Irish flag rather than the Irish one.
I know what he means but why would he bring it up when he doesnt know what he's talking about. Everyone here in Ireland is just proud of rory and what he has done for Irish golf. Nobody cares what flag he plays under.

I am always fascinated to see how far the pros hit their clubs in general, but more their irons specifically. I am very similar distance-wise until they gap their 6 to 5 to 4 irons, they really have a big spread in those irons that most amateurs don't. And then couple that with how well they hit their drivers and you can see how they consistently put up good numbers.

I love the look on his face when the interviewer takes the driver out of the bag. I don't know about you guys but I hate it when people touch my clubs. Looks like Rory feels the same. He has that "if you don't put that back I am going to kill you" look.
I actually don't care if someone takes a club out of my bag to look at it, as long as I at least know the person. Sky Sports is essentially the ESPN of Britain, so no real fear there....

Brilliant!!!! Great Catch and Thanks a Million for sharing.... That is a rare glimps into Number 1's Bag.... I love that he and Luke Donald are so open and receptive to the media and fans... Something that Tiger never did!!! He could certainly take a lesson in humility from those guys! WOW thats so backwards, they are English, they are supposed to be the "Stuffy" ones!!!

Rory has his 3 wood at 275 in the video above, how then does he unleash a 340 yard 3 wood like he did in the playoff last week? Does he have an extra 65 yards in reserve or is it a case of the fairways being rolled and generally harder than normal?
would that not be normal carry...

for me my yardages are for 15C with no wind...

that day hard fast fairways... warm temps etc...

I think tour guys typically have an extra 10 on hold or maybe 15-20 for woods but I don't think they have an extra 65. I'm guessing that 3 wood, as others have said, was combo of firm fairways, little downwind?, and some adrenaline.

I'm amazed at how freaking far he hits his wedges. Hitting a 60* 100 yards just doesn't seem possible. I could take a full, balls-out swing at a 60 and not get it to go further than 60 yards (unless I skull it of course).

Many of your countrymen think differently. Rory's made many statements about being "English", and has distanced himself from his Irish roots. He certainly didn't have any problem being Irish when he was benefiting from Ireland's youth golf programs, and playing on their dime.

de-lofted face, great compression, hitting down on it, clubhead speed. All add up to 100 yard 60 degree.
