Played Falconhead yesterday afternoon and the greens are starting to ice up again. They punched them about a month ago and now that they're fully back, it's playing around 10 on the meter.

It's soggy everywhere but all this rain is going to make for a fun summer at all our neighborhood courses.

I have not played that course yet. I went to a Titleist Thursday fitting a couple weeks ago there and it looks like a pretty decent course. That drive down 620 at 4:30pm on a weekday though....SMH!

Ah yes, I've seen those guys out there lately. Driving up/down 620 is just brutal altogether so I feel your pain there. FH is a good track though so give it a shot if you can brave the drive!

Legacy hills was in great shape yesterday...greens were the best ive seen so far in relatively inexpensive courses...did see about a five foot snake of some kind on a cart path...took off and climbed a tree!

If it was 5' and climbed it was likely a Texas Rat Snake or Texas Brown both of which are completely harmless. Rattlesnakes are out there, but they don't climb.

They were awful, I didn't even bother lining up or taking time with putts anyway. Don't know what the hell they did to them but they had a lot of sand and little grass. Seems a little late for aerating.

12? wow! congrats!!!!!!!!! where was the pin and what was the ball flight, etc?

Pin was left-center and a little back. Played a little fade, my typical ball flight, that landed about 3 feet left and a little short of the pin then it spun over and in. I couldn't see it all that well but you never think it went in, you just assume you can't see it for whatever odd reason. We pull up to the green and the ball is no where in sight and I'm looking over the green thinking it bounced off but my buddy ran up after seeing the pitch mark and saw it in the hole.

Amazing feeling!

My wife and I came to Austin last week for our anniversary and she kindly went with me as I played a round at Jimmy Clay. (I wanted to play Kizer, but I guess they had just aerated.) I had a great time, and I just wanted to say that you guys in Austin have it made. The practice facility there blew my mind, the course was challenging and fun, and you can't beat the price.

There are probably nicer courses in the area, but if I lived out there I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

Played Cimarron Hills this morning. Very challenging track and while I didn't play my best off the tee, it was in absolutely perfect condition. Members are lucky!

FALCONHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

played it today, and while the greens were punched and sandy, and the putting very difficult, that course is awesome! you stand on the tee and think to yourself, "i have hope!" on every hole!

lots of elevation changes, pretty wide fairways, not a tricked up track at all....of course, you can get in trouble, but it's very fair with a decent tee shot...

i love the place.

you gotta play it.

in about 2 weeks.

when the greens come back.

it's dang near a perfect course!

Isn't it kind of late in the season to be punching greens? What kind of grass/greens do they have?

You need to make it out to Teravista and Star Ranch if you haven't already. If you have, I'm curious why they weren't on your list.

I always think of Bluebonnet when I'm playing poorly. It's gotta be the easiest course in the area and good for a confidence booster.

you havent seen me play bluebonnet...stunning...the final 3 always give me fits, lol...

Really? I can see 17 giving a few fits, but 16 and 18 are pretty straight forward and very short and wide par 4's.

16 is usually iron or FW off the tee. 17 is a doozie for sure, 18 I've been pin high with my drive before with a good wind coming off decker lake, but I'm usually just past the dip in the fairway for a short pitch shot approach. Sounds like we have totally different games. I think Bluebonnet's par 4's are so short from the norm that I try to hit driver too much and that's the only time I tend to get in trouble out there. Like when I try to cut the corner on 15 and end up in the trap only to make bogey.
