new to golf: please help me find a set of irons

I'm in my late 20's and I just recently got into golf. I've gone to the driving range during high school and college occasionally but.more of a social thing where I swung like a baseball player. I've never been to a golf course, only the driving range. I got a good deal on the taylormade burner 1.0 irons and they hit fine. This past weekend however, I went to a golf warehouse where they were selling used irons for $10. I found a #6 mizuno mp 33 blade, bought it and hit it on the range and it was great! I was most impressed w how light it felt when I was swinging it.

I realize that blades should not be used by beginners since its a really small sweet spot and believe me I felt it when it was a mishit. I also read somewhere that forged metal won't last as long as cast iron. Can you recommend a set of irons that has a light swing weight that's similar to the mizunos preferably cast iron?

I'd be open to any opinions and thanks so much!

get that old blade and practice with it, it will tell you EVERYTHING you do wrong in your swing!

advice is cheap, here's some...

look for a cavity back set 4-pw, preferably something that is at minimum a game enhancement type club...

you should probably steer clear of blades, they will be there when you get your game going. and they cost a lot less used.

I would hit some pings, some adams, some callaways. whatever catches your eye.

-- don't get too caught up on the whole club chase - you'll make mistakes as we all have - just keep it in the back of your mind that the differences between most of the clubs are generally modest, and the golf industry (and its assembled adherants) knows best how to make you feel like you need something when you really dont.

you'll need some wedges, a driver, a 3 wood, a hybrid no doubt, a putter....have you ordered your pink srixon z star balls yet? better get on that one pronto...

yeah

My suggestion is old school, go to a play it again sports or local used trade in spot and get a solid set of blades in your price range. Just about any Mizuno blades are good heads, Titleist makes good headed blades, Nike has some really nice blades. Just find a set of blades and stay on the range until you can hit them solidly and consistently. Go to the golf course for the first time and shoot 68 and rub it in your friends' faces.

Just buy something that fits you. I just traded my first set of clubs, Cleveland TA-7's, for Mizuno MP-69's.

I've been playing seriously for around 3.5 months. You have no idea how fast you will learn. I'd get into it cheap and see how you develop. Then decide if you want to "train" or just "practice."

I hit a few hundred balls a day, so if you don't want to put in the time, getting a set of blades could just be more frustrating.
