Kukio Mauka Course (pic heavy)

I was fortunate enough to play a round at the very exclusive Kukio Golf Course on the Big Island this past weekend. Very difficult course with breathtaking views. Tight approaches to the greens and moderate winds made it for a pretty challenging round. Paspalum fairways with 2", 4" cuts of rough leading up to Paspalum greens with lava rock hazards were very well maintained. Although they aerated 3 weeks ago, the greens were still playing to a 9-10 on the stimp.

 

As with every other golf course, there are "rest stops" along the course. Kukio has "comfort stations" fully stocked with drinks, alcohol, snacks, alcohol, ice cream, frozen snacks, alcohol, and ibuprofen!

 

How did I do??? I had an awesome time and the weather was just beautiful!!!

Thanks and thanks for noticing the Launch Lab . Cheap plug! Kukio is a private community course that is only open to residents and property owners in that community. Some of the "celebrity" homeowners include Michael Dell, Charles Schwab, Kelly Slater, Jerry Yang, and Steve Ballmer just to name a few. I was fortunate to get an invitation from a relative that is a member and property owner.

LOL! I didn't want to make a fool of myself and stash them in front of the caddy. A grey goose and a crown and about 4 ice cream sandwiches!

Pitbull, there is a better chance of playing Nanea than a second round at Kukio. But I need to cut my handi in half to enjoy Nanea.

If you want something that's not in the comfort station, they have it ready by the time you make the turn. I mean ANYTHING.
