Ping Goes Adjustable! First Looks new Anser Driver & wedge

I like the look from the bottom and face. Wish they had a view from address. Does this mean the G20 and I20 will drop in price this week, August or later?

not sure i like that loft/face angle can't be changed independently, no one 2nd thought I'm am sure I don't like it... If I wast to hit it a little higher I have to get a closed face, or playing a windy links course and i want to keep it low i have to get a open face??? Weak effort at 1st glance IMO

 

Every single adjustable driver works this way, including TM and Titleist. TM counter to it is ASP, but in order to change loft you have to change face angle. And for those complaining about the half degree incriments it makes sence with ping's philosophy. They take the set t and forget it approach. So if you need a 9 degree you deloft the 9.5 or weaken the 8.5. If you want a 9.5 you get the 9.5. This way the clubs don't overlap and ping has more fitting options.

 

 

??? Doesn't the chart below imply i can got from D1 -A1 -D4 -A4 with the Titleist 910 drivers and increase\decrease loft without adding draw or fade bias???

 

 

I believe the loft (left column) affects both loft and face angle. Lie can be adjusted independently.

The anser coming out in August will have nothing to do with the pricing of the G or I 20. They are a different line and the anser does not replace either of them.

Hmmmm... looks to me like a G20 shape, with an i20 finish (plus adjustability in the hosel). I think I'll pass on the driver, but the wedges will definitely receive a closer look from me.

Irons Only. Woods are a major PITA because you would like to be able to fit them properly but you need a lot of clubs. Now you only have have a few heads and a bunch of shafts (for flex and stiffness) to cover most scenarios.

I don't think so. The K15 is likely to be dropped from the line and that is where the drop will be.

My local store and club both have fitting carts with Ping drivers that have screw on demo shafts, I had one for about a week.

yes. Demo/fitting heads have screws for attaching the shaft.

Everyone wants to be able to switch shafts, but how do we know these tips will be readily available? PING exhibits a lot of control over their product, and they're likely making more shafts available in stock to prevent this behavior.

I usually don't comment on these but I am really excited for this driver. As a mid-capper, i've been waiting for a black driver from PING that's got more forgiveness than the i-series line. I think this will be their retail version of the black G20 we've seen, but with adjustability. Very excited! Wouldn't ming trying those wedges too!!

I'm surprised at the adjustable driver. During the Ping Q & A not too long ago they said they wouldn't have an adjustable driver because they felt it compromised the weight distribution, or something to that affect.

Which is code for "we haven't really come up with something we're happy with yet".

As for the weight, I'm sure someone will figure out how to remove it if it's not made to come out. It'd be a fairly simple tool to machine.
