Amazing how many WRX guys ditched the AP2's due to high ball flight when Dufner, Watney, Stricker, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson, and a zillion other tour professionals don't have an problem with them.

Dufner has an extremely low flight naturally because of his flatter swing and he exaggerates leading with his hands. He plays AP2's to combat this and bring the flight up. Watney looks to be a high ball hitter that embraces it. Stricker and Johnson both look like low ball hitters. Stricker picks the ball, which promotes a lower flight, and Johnson has a flat swing like Dufner. When did Webb switch? He was hitting blades for awhile. 670 or 690 MB's, can't remember the exact ones.

I'm a high ball hitter, but I'm trying to fix it by moving more toward a flatter type swing like Dufner and Zach Johnson rather than going to a shaft/iron combo that is too demanding for my game.

AP2's will probably be in my bag soon. Just can't decide what shaft to go with.

Webb switched from 680's to Ap2's this week in Hawaii.

I understand that tour players have various planes and flights, but average WRX guys need to learn to hit their ball low. It's a skill. It's a shot. Knock it down if it's windy. Hit it high if it's not. Hold a green with your 3 iron :)

Here is Webb in Hawaii this week.

680's....I was close. Lol

I agree. I don't have a problem hitting it lower when I need to. A mid range trajectory just suits my eye better than a really high trajectory. I feel like I have more control, and confidence is a big deal in this game.

The ap2 high ball flight is something to be embraced. I think with the new grooves you get a nice blend of high trajectory without over spinning. I would bet most would be better taking the high ball and learning the knockdown when needed. A 4 iron that gets up, penetrates, and falls down on the green from 210 is a beautiful thing!
