2 Piece surlyn - W/S 50 Elite
3 piece surlyn - Top Flite Gamer V2
3 Piece urethane - W/S FG Tour (especially the deal on blems)
4&5 piece urethane - TaylorMade Penta Practice
agree with the TM Penta Practice. They are great balls, cheap too.

I have 8 dozen ProV1x sitting in the garage. Until they are used up I'm sticking with them.

But I really like the Bridgestone e5. I can get them for under $25/dz and I can tell very little difference in it and the Prov1x. To me, I think the 1x is a few yards longer and gets more consistent distance with the irons, but the e5 is better around the greens. Ha, that's probably the opposite of what most people experience.

The e6 is a good distance ball. I found it freaky long. Problem is I don't know how to control 200 yard 6 irons that I usually hit 170 with a 1x and it isn't the softest with the putter.

Come on. You're saying you get 30 extra yards with your 6 iron using an E6? Exaggeration or BS. ;)

Can't beleive no one has mentioned the Wilson Duo. I've been playing this ball for awile now. Great off the tee, good spin on wedge shots, and putts very nice. It's the only ball in my bag now. But I will try out the new TP lethal and new ProV1X also. But for the biggest bang for the buck Wilson Duo should be looked at.

I've posted this a few times in the past six months, but I'm convinced Wilson is dumping perfectly good inventory as 'blems.' I've been through 9 dozen FG Tours and 3 dozen Duos (stockpiled, not used up) and I've seen only a couple of blemishes. And there has never been a blem for the FG Tour X. What, they have a super special paint process when they add the "X"? No, they just have better inventory control on that line.

The Blems are perfect balls.

here's an article about the Wilson Duo.... which many of you seem to like as a big bargain. I do like the Duo, but play it when it's cold, and play it when practicing, pitching, putting, I do this for I think the Duo, with a 40 compression, is a training aid. I like to feel the " right" stroke, with pitching, chipping, putting. Duo has awesome feel.

I would have to say the two balls that stood out the most for me for their price were the Pinnacle Exception and Wilson C:25. The Pinnacle I was finding them very near their landing marks for what I was paying for them. The Wilson C:25 had good distance, felt good with irons and also was holding greens good enough. Both discontinued... :( (Although Wilson Zips are still around and are basically a softer C:25)

TaylorMade Burner TP LDP from a couple years ago, now packaged in double dozens...previously known as the Maxfli Tour Fire...I have both versions, having stocked-up when they were discontinued...Burner TP is LONG and sticks to greens, and feels soft but not too sponge-y off the putter. HUGE bang-for-buck factor.

MacGregor Tourney (the old 3-piece!) on Clearance at Golfsmith...($8/doz., March 2013)...insane!

Regarding the macgregors, do you mean March 2012? I wish they still made the vip ball (a 3 piece urethane).

Penta TP5 practice for $15 a dz from RBG. I ordered and received 10 dozen to get the free shipping,, all are the tp5 model. At $15 a dozen that ball is very difficult to beat.

actually found the MacGregor Tourneys in March 2013 in Golfsmith...Southern Cali.

I know and really like the VIPs too. Was scoping for them on clearance, but found the Tourneys.

Callaway Hex Bite's are solid too, on clearance, they're a TON of ball for the dough.

About 5 yrs ago, a Euro Golf Mag did a Ball Test using driver & 8 iron swings, scoring the ball speed, launch & spin rates with robot and club pro testing.

They were surprised the AD333 had #s on both clubs that fit right in between the Pro V1 & Pro V1x when it came to spin and launch, and ball speeds higher than most of the premium player balls ( even their own).
