Finally got a chance to try mine on the course, final verdict - sold on the BST. I had 3 days of golf in Florida. I loved it when I tried it, loved it at the range, hated it on the course. Put it up against my D2, the D2 was longer, and I was able to hit many more fairways. I just did not like the results in the course. I really like the look of it, but could not get comfortable on the course with it. Oh well, live and learn.

I'm trying to figure out why you would buy it if you hit it on the sim and the range and it went shorter than the D2? I mean if you got money to burn...cool. The club just doesn't "magically" hit shorter or fade/slice randomly on the course rather than the range. First 2 times I took mine out I went 13/14 fairways then 12/14 the next time. I know not everyone is the same but maybe it takes a little time to get used to it...

I hit it great in the sim, twice actually. Then went to another place that had a range, and love it there as well. I don't know what it was but I could not get it to work on the course. I wasn't expecting it to be "magical", just forgiving and long, like it was when I tried it. No big deal, I love the look and it was fun to try, just did not work for me. I hope the person that bought it will have better luck with it.

So - question for those that have re-shafted with the adapters. Did you tip the new shaft at all to accommodate the adapter, or did you just prep the tip and install. I've got a new shaft coming for my Tour, and just want to make sure I get it right the first time. Thanks!

I just put an AD-DI 6s in my covert performance. Hit it outside in trackman and my numbers went from good to incredible.

10.5 Neutral
Club speed 112
Ball speed 167
Spin 2250
Launch 13.5
Carry 302
Total 333
[/quote]

That is an awful long carry for 167 ball-speed, normally this ball-speed, spin and launch will produce closer to 285 carry.

Was this at elevation?

I am a little worried about the paint chipping on these covert heads. I have only hit my driver once with no issues but was wondering if anyone else has experienced some chipping yet?
Actually, now that you mention it, I did notice some minor paint chipping, but it is on the bottom of the club and not the crown. It is still in the 30s here in Iowa so I haven't played outside with it yet but I do play in a Simulator once a week. I noticed after one round in a simulator there is minor chipping of the red on the bottom. I wonder if it is from the tees rubbing on the bottom since the rubber keeps them up. I would post a picture if anyone is interested.
This is what I am worried most about with this club. I am totally OCD about keeping my clubs clean and nice looking am worried about the paint on these. A chip on these beautiful candy apple red heads will stand out like a sore thumb. I'd like to see a picture of yours when you get time. Thanks!

OK. I attached a photo. You will see where the red meets the chrome under the word "COVERT" and there is some minor chipping. Also down at the bottom of the photo above the swoosh. Now maybe this wouldn't happen with the Tour head or maybe less obvious.

Again, I am not TOO concerned right now, but I have to be a little concerned since this driver has seen 9 holes on a simulator (so 7 tee shots) and maybe 5-10 practice swings.

Just looked at mine and it too is chipping all long the edge of the red parts on the bottom, whilst not too bothered - I am wondering what it will look like in 6 months time

I have had mine (Covert Tour) for about 5 weeks and it is the best driver I have hit, especially in the wind. I have a GD BB6 x flex tipped 1/2" and it is awesome. Finally got it dialed in to 10.5 and the "left" setting. That is open for me because I am a lefty. Getting ready to test this driver against a Ping Anser with the new Aldila atx green shaft. It has been unseasonably cold here in KY but I have not noticed any paint chipping like many have commented on. I would recommend this driver to anybody as long as they have the correct shaft installed.

Played my first full round with the performance and I can definitely say I'm hitting it straighter, especially on my hard misses on the toe or heel. Playing partner tried it out and I didn't say anything out loud because I wasn't trying to throw him off before our round, but he was killing it compared to his R1.

  • 3 weeks later...

Is there a place where I can buy a upgrade shaft for my 3 wood?

Have the stock Kuro Kage, but looking for a 80g Stiff shaft.
