As of today, I finally have a complete bag of clubs setup EXACTLY the way I want (specs, details, etc.). It's been quite a journey the last 4.5 months when all these changes started...but finally it's all done! I can finally sleep well again... :)

Maybe I need to avoid the Trackman fitting........ :drinks:

Tony I think that statement could be called "full of crap." :)

Are those your old irons?

no, i sold those. these are very, very similar though........ :drinks:

sam, i may be making a golf trip with our sister club in dallas (and bringing some more guys from houston) to play 2 courses on the texas/louisiana border, (near dallas). i forgot the names, but one is "augusta national of texas" and the other is a hal sutton design, and staying at some casino called sams town or something like that. this might be in early april though (and an entirely new bag of clubs)

in actuality, it takes a lot for me to feel a bag is complete......hopefully it warms up a bit so i can actually try out these new clubs....:)

I'll still put Homer's clubs up against them, head to head any day of the week, right Sammy?!?

How are the new Sonartecs working, Tony? What's the one muscle-back club in there? Did HotStix tell you that you needed a single MB mid-iron?

SLDR TP 14* 'Ahina 70x
SLDR TP 19* Motore Speeder 9.8HB

was it really that good with homer's clubs?!?!! i can't remember except for the fact that i didn't have any irons at that time!!

he just got new clubs too.....some tour issue titleist with tour concepts in them for only $400!! he hits them so-so.

guess what? haven't even hit the sonartec's, and got those just after christmas...too busy with work and other stuff for golf recently.

the other club is just a miura hybrid that i've always wanted but shyed away from b/c people said it wasn't any good..........well, i can't hit normal hybrids and this one is pretty damn good.

the only thing in the bag from hot stix is the putter, i couldn't hit the lie angle they recommended....so just went back to std lies. i guess the outside/in swing compensates for the too upright lie angle pulling the shot to make things go straight for me.

  • 1 month later...

Have any of you Houston guys hit or bought the X-Forged? I got them in earlier this week and played my first round today with them.....all I can say is "WOW"

They are a little bigger looking than my Miuras, but feel similar. As many of you know, I got fit by Hot Stix for softer shafts than I normally play (b/c of a smoother transition). I bought the 5.0 flex shafts, and they feel very similar to the Nippons (a little bit heavier than the 1150 Nippons, which I like).

Anyways, these irons will be in the bag for the foreseeable future!

Btw, shooting 73 today helped alot...haven't sniffed this low in quite awhile.... ;)

Still waiting for 2 fw's and a new driver to complete the bag!!

New Bag 3/2/07:

Nike Sumo 10.5 VS 65X

Nike Sumo 13 Diamana X

Titleist 585 21 X100

Callaway X20 Tour Project X Flighted 6.0

Cleveland CG11 54 & 60

Cami&Co Newport II GSS

The Sumo is by FAR the straightest driver I've hit. Now, I may look at a little more spin reduction in the shaft. I get a little more than I would like.

I just got the X20Tour today and I was fitted in the 6.0 flex which was a surprise. I would have thought 6.5 was perfect but my swing is long.
