not a huge issue unless the head is backing out of the shaft. If it's just the ferrule I would just grab a set of pliers and stick it on top and tap it with a hammer. Should slide down.

Sometimes they just keep sliding up but as was said hammer it back down. I use a pliers with a smooth circular space to catch the ferrule and hammer on the pliers. Acetone on a rag can be used to "melt" and smooth any defects in the plastic caused by the proceedure. I have a wedge that just keeps occurring so I gave up. I would have to sand the shaft and epoxy the joint.

This happens often and it's usually not a problem. Just hold the ferrule under hot running water for about a minute and then push it back down with your hand. You may have to use a rag to push with in order to get a good grip. If the ferrule works up again later, just repeat the process and add a drop of glue.

This works great. I had a whole set do this, used a bit of epoxy and tapped them back. The irons have since been reshafted, no issues when reshafting.

Best method here and works! I heated a cup of water in the microwave and poured it on, placed super glue on hosel and pushed ferrule down with rag - works like a charm and doesn't leave tool marks.

I have G5 irons where shaft connects directly into hosel. When washing the club, I was told NOT to have this connector area submerged in water. Isn’t having hot running water on ferrule part similar to have the connector area submerged in water?

Thanks again for answering my noob question.

I'm not sure why you were told not to submerge that area in water while cleaning your clubs. I've done this for years with my Pings and it hasn't hurt a thing. There's no space between the epoxy and the head for water to seep in and cause rusting and it takes a whole lot more heat than that to break down the epoxy. There's more danger if water/moisture were to get inside the shaft through the grip end because the inside is not plated. I think you'll be perfectly fine washing your Pings and you'll certainly not cause any damage with using hot water to slide the ferrule back down on you AP1's.

Heating with hair dryer all around Hosel with high heat approx. 2minutes don't get too close to ferrule than place club on edge of counter or doorway and push that should do it, I don't like to push on by hand ferrule gets kinda hot and you could burn your fingers which might affect your grip, good luck, this methodd works best for me.

Used the search function to find this topic. My ferrule on my G25 5 wood came loose tonight while playing. Im thinking about just sending it in for them to deal with since I have a hybrid backup. My question is would you guys send it in or just DIY? Being without the club for a bit will not bother me if that means anything.

It happens because of poor assembly methods.

Most OEMs hope that friction will hold the ferrule in place. Experienced club builders use more than friction.

I don't post often and hope this is the right forum.

I just noticed this gap between ferrule and hosel on my 7 iron of AP1 710 (see attachment). This is the only gap in the set. Is this a problem? If so, how can I fix it?

Thank you for helping out!

Black RVT will fill it in and hold it until you choose to remove it. I'm assuming the ferrule was belted down where it is smooth with the hosel, if not do that first.

It may take two applications but being a small crack/slit it will be a simple job. Just read the instructions.

If the ferrule is loose, raise it up a bit and use RVT, it's black and will not be a much of a problem cleaning up and has a higher temp to release than epoxy's.

I know this is a OLD thread but...I just bought a used club and there was a small gap between the ferrule and hosel.  So I googled and this thread was the first hit.  Just wanted to say THANKS.  Firstly it put my mind at ease that this is more of a cosmetic thing than anything else and also that there are a few easy fixes.  The hot water one worked like a charm for me!

Use a hair drier to warm the ferrule to allow it to slide up.  Apply some epoxy on the shaft.  Then slide the ferrule back down.  If necessary, warm the ferrule again.  Last step is to clean off any excess epoxy.

Put a wrench just about the width of the shaft on top of the ferrule.  Tap lightly on the wrench with a hammer.  The ferrule will come down without any heat needed
